@NarukITA PCI and PCI-E are two different standards.
Wait which video cards are PIC-E? These I deduce that they are not compatible with the slots I have?
I was talking about another card you mentioned, but the thread moved past. Lol
256MB PCI RADEON X550 is PCI E. Radeon 7000 is PCI (older standard ).
GeForce 9600 / 8600 etc. is PCI E Edited by stingraze 2022-07-20 2:24 PM

| I am seeing that the NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS PCI only consumes 25W
But everyone recommends a 200W power supply, but in any case there should be no problems even with 90W.

| You see the little notch or whatever you call it on the end of the slot of PCI-E? That is one way to recognize, I think.

| @stingraze Ha ok, all clear! Those video cards, mentioned earlier, better leave them alone, they also consume too much. |

| No problem. Good luck. Maybe you should read a computer magazine from the Pentium 1 era to get a general feel of the GPUs used then. Maybe it’s on archive.org?

| Wait, you mean this from PCI-E?

Yes that little piece on the right in this one tells you it is PCI-E. The lock part is the identifier.
Some more info:

| Thank you so much for all the support and information, I will avoid these video cards like the plague!
Now I have to evaluate those PCI video cards I have seen.
I made a comparison between these two video cards, which consume less WATT. Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS and AMD Radeon 7000 64mb
https://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=692&gid2=129&compare=Nvidia%20GeForce%208400%20GS-vs-AMD%20Radeon%207000%2064mb
Now in the "GPU Supporting Hardware" information, it says that the Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS is recommended to have 2GB of ram? In addition to the processor.
Instead ATI Radeon 7000 does not require anything!
Maybe the GeForce 8400 GS will not be able to use it?

| GeForce 8400 GS is pretty recent (2007 ).
I can bet that 8400 GS won’t work with your system…. Because… PCI-E. And 256MB of Video RAM was kind of unheard of in regular PCs in the Pentium 1 era. I think rendering all that 3D is too much for it.
Update: there seem to be a PCI version? I don’t know about this one. Just try it out… Power needed seems to be 40W.

| Yes, there is a PCI version.
But I have to understand when they consume the video cards, the others. I also found an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 PCI. I'll take a good look, then we'll see.

| Pretty sure that the number of pins and pin spacing identifies it as PCI-E. Not the optional lock notch.
You cannot use PCI-E.
As I said earlier, PCI cannot draw more than ~25w without external power. |

I believe some video cards outperform this. The NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS PCI Rev. 2 is standard PCI, does not require external power, but exceeds the 25W consumption, reaching 40W. Edited by NarakuITA 2022-07-21 1:26 AM

| You know I was wrong, Now I remember writing to a reseller about the Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS PCI Rev. 2 is not a PCI Standard, but a PCI Express! (I still have the email) I guess the standard PCI is hard to find. I can't find it on ebay.
ATI RADEON 7000 64MB graphics card is the best choice for my PC.
