I need help with this device, a USB adapter for Rj45 LAN - Chipset Rd9700.
Unfortunately, the drivers provided on the CD are not accepted by Windows 98SE. The device is detected and the installation drivers are requested.
I attach photos for more information.
Image 01 is the product.
Image 02 shows that Windows 98
Image 03 shows that the drivers in the Windows 98 folder on the CD are not accepted. In fact it turns out:
Cannot find a driver for this device.
Click Next to not install a driver now.
Click Back to search again.

Image 04 shows the attempt to install the drivers manually. Right-clicking on Net8150.ini and selecting "install" displays an error message:
A peripheral connected to the system is not working.
I also attach the entire folder of the CD: CD Driver ISO
Solutions?
A thousand thanks. I await news.

The dll you are trying to use is for a RTL8150 chip.

Try the old folder in https://dl.drp.su/driverpacks/repack/LAN_Others/Davicom/5x86/DM96xx/...

The drivers were installed, but he also asked me for the Windows 98 CD.
However the device does not work, it says that it is impossible to load the drivers for this device with the NDIS.VXD device loader, NTKERN.VXD.
The device sees it as DM9601 USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter.
BUT I believe there must be RD9700 and not DM9601. The drivers are not yours.

It does not work.
Do you know how VID and PID are controlled?
The first drivers were fine.
It is only a assumption based on this page https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/MoinMoinExport/USBtoLanAdapters.html
Devices with 9700 PID are using dm9601 driver. However, you may need to edit the inf file.
I need to figure out if the device is the right one and if so, I need to figure out how to edit the .inf file.

You can't just edit a PNP ID and expect it to work. In fact you don't even need to. You can force Windows to use a driver it doesn't want to. Just manually select the driver and force it to take it. It'll either work, fault or blue screen the system.

But I tell him to get the drivers in the specific folder, however he says he didn't find suitable drivers for the device. How do you force Windows to use those drivers?

Don't scan for drivers, select it manually and don't just show compatible hardware devices in the list

The one on the list, I have to try it. BUT I think it is only good for installation?
Anyway:
I solved it by plugging the device on windows 10.
ID Hardware:
USB\VID_0FE6&PID_9700&REV_0101
USB\VID_0FE6&PID_9700
ID Compatible:
USB\Class_00&SubClass_00&Prot_00
USB\Class_00&SubClass_00
USB\Class_00
Through Windows 10, in 98, I do not know why this option does not appear, I have recovered this info. Could they be useful?

So I did, reinstall driver, in the list of network devices, I clicked on the "Have Disk" option.
I went to the drivers folder, and it saw me and recognized, this time, the RD9700. I selected it, but when I pressed OK, the following message appeared:
Cannot find hardware information in the specified location.
The problem appeared on the drivers you made me download.
I tried the ones from the CD and started installing them. After a while though:
Unable to install Realtek RTL8150 USB 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter.
Error code 1F6. Then Windows restart. And the device is installed but disabled.
I enabled the device and restarted the PC.
Yellow exclamation point: The device is not present, is malfunctioning, or not all required drivers are installed. (code10)
Isn't it that the first drivers conflict?

https://archive.org/details/rd9700 ?

I have installed these drivers. But it doesn't seem to work.
Then with the update function, I manually went to look for them in the list.
Nothing is found under the Manufacturer name: Corechip Semiconductor, Inc.
The only ones I find are the manufacturers: Crystal Semiconductor and Davicom Semiconductor, Inc.
Nothing under the name of Corechip Semiconductor, Inc.
Going to:
C: \ Program Files \ InstallShield Installation Information \ {8F1A2017-DF3D-44D3-BE79-C616CF5946D3} I find the driver installation program.
In the setup.ini file I find:
[Startup]
EnableLangDlg=Y
AppName=RD9700 USB Ethernet Adapter
ProductGUID=8F1A2017-DF3D-44D3-BE79-C616CF5946D3
CompanyName=Corechip Semiconductor
CompanyURL=http://www.CorechipSemiconductor.com
ErrorReportURL=http://www.installshield.com/isetup/ProErrorCentral.asp?ErrorCode=%d : 0x%x&ErrorInfo=%s
MediaFormat=1
LogMode=1
Resource=_Setup.dll
SmallProgress=N
SplashTime=
CheckMD5=Y
CmdLine=
ShowPasswordDialog=N
EngineVersion=15.0.0.591
EngineBinding=1
Source=0
AllUsers=1
InstallGuid={8F1A2017-DF3D-44D3-BE79-C616CF5946D3}
[Languages]
Default=0x0009
count=3
key0=0x0009
key1=0x0804
key2=0x0404
RequireExactLangMatch=0x0804,0x0404

In the list of manufacturers it should appear:
Corechip Semiconductor and the driver to be installed with the name of RD9700 USB Ethernet Adapter
BUT this does not appear in the list.
According to these two sites, this company has no drivers for this device, much less for windows 98.
https://download-drivers.net/corechip-semiconductor-inc/lan/rd9700-usb2-0-to-fast-ethernet-adapter
https://devid.info/en/catalog/class18-vendor367--network-adapters-corechip-semiconductor--inc-
The file you passed me on archive.org is the same one found here:
https://oemdrivers.com/network-qts1081b-usb-to-ethernet-lan-adapter
however the IDs do not match:
The IDs provided are:
USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700 & REV_0101
USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700
and not:
USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700
USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9702 & MI_01
This does not match: USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700 & REV_0101

I tried this:
https://download.cnet.com/Realtek-RTL8150-USB-10-100-Fast-Ethernet-Adapter/3000-2112_4-186650.html
I installed the driver with the Setup program, but on reboot, the problem remained, then I went to the list where the Realtek Manufacturer was, but the newly installed drivers were not in the list. So I told him to go and get them, manually in the windows 98 folder, always the .ini file. I installed everything without problems, restarted ...

The thing that I noticed different, however, is that the red light inside it turned on. But the PC crashes.
