The UK has lost its Queen, Elizabeth II, who has worn the crown for the past 70 years. This has to be a day no citizen of the UK could have prepared for. As an American, I share in their grief over the loss of a beloved monarch.

Thanks Gregg. These will be difficult days for many of us. As I said in my post on the homepage, I'm feeling a profound sense of loss and grief myself.

When they cancelled the Privy Council yesterday, in my heart I knew, but I didn't lose hope. Didn't want to believe it.

I am sorry to hear this news.

I love the Queen Elizabeth and Paddington Bear illustration.
Paddington has been one of my favorite picture books.

May she rest in peace.

She had an extremely long run as Queen, but it's still always surprising when death finally comes.
Genuinely, may she rest in peace.

Chris, that's a wonderful drawing, especially her tipped hat and everyday coat.

She was quite the remarkable lady. A steady figure and great example to everyone over so many decades.

Really like that illustration too.

May she rest in peace.

A commentary free live stream of the procession from the Palace to Westminster Hall (much better than listening to the BBC or whomever incessantly waffle to fill air)

They're tolling the Great Bell ("Big Ben") every 60 seconds. I've never seen or heard that before. I've only ever heard it chime at the top of the hour.
