Windows 2000 abnormal behavior

Finally I managed to install Windows 2000, so as to have more possibilities of using the software and hardware.
I am using Windows 2000 SP4.
I have noticed that windows tries to read the floppy very often for no reason.
In fact, when I started installing programs, they crash or ask for the floppy disk.
For example I wanted to install framework 1.1, but as soon as the installation started, for some strange reason, windows started incessantly and persistently trying to read the floppy, which obviously isn't there.
Same thing, with the HP scaner 2400 program. When it almost reaches the end of the installation, incessantly and insistently try to read the floppy and then the installation crashes. In this case it gives an error. The installation is canceled. This prevents me from installing the scanner.
Why this problem? A bug?

I imagine it is because the default scan path for INF/INI lookup as well as command prompt is a:\. AT machines were never meant to be run without a floppy drive.

Try searching the registry for A:\ and replace all instances with C:

*.lnk;*.pif

It is not recognized by windows, telling me to enter a correct name.

This suggests deleting "something undefined" in the "Send To" folder.
It is not clear whether the entire folder or the value inside it.
Keep in mind that there is nothing inside, but only the value mentioned in the article; string: {7BA4C740-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837} where you are told to add it, not remove it.
I want to specify, that this article contrasts with the first, since the first advises against deleting any information contained in "Send To".

The only working one is the solution of the third article you gave me. I did as described. Restarted and the problem remained.
It continues to search the floppy disk for files and stops any attempt to uninstall any updates or programs.

The first article, as I just said, gives incorrect information.
The search command cannot be used. Windows does not recognize it.

I forgot, when windows start, as soon as I enter the desktop, it tries to read the Floppy. I didn't do this with other operating systems.

That wasn't what I asked. Did you follow my suggestion of searching the registry for all instances of A:\ and replacing them with C:\?

If you find A:\ - which is missing, change it to C:
There may be some ini files that need similar treatment.

I also uninstalled the floppy drive and installed on reboot. The Problem remained.

Ok, I managed to get the command: *.lnk;*.Pif to work with the search function.
Everything he found associated with the letter A: I deleted it!
Restarted the PC, the problem remained.

Has this windows 2000 install ever had a floppy attached?

In modern PCs, it boots by itself.
BUT for older PCs, like mine comes with 4 boot floppies.

Can you disable the floppy in the bios?

No, and I don't want to. I use it.
Could it be an error in the Windows 2000 installation?
I ask this because I have noticed two other problems:
The recycle bin does not work; even if it is set correctly, the files should not be deleted immediately but put in the trash, when i delete a file, windows deletes it immediately.
Another problem, it only occurs when windows restart. The sound card is not detected. To get it detected, I have to turn off the PC and turn it back on. If I turn on the PC there are no problems, but if I do a restart, you no longer see the sound card.

That's probably because a CF card is removable media and, unlike 9x, NT knows it is removable media so turned the recycle bin off.

Sound card problem: that is odd.


Are you certain there isn't a common cause, like opening the start menu?
