I don't know, once things were built to "last" today for consumerism things "don't have to last"!

However without my noticing it, windows started downloading other updates including Framework.
Precisely, Frameworks updates took 2 hours to install.
Of course this Frameworks is really heavy, but once the whole process is finished, the machine is as lean and responsive as before.
Keeping in mind that maybe now it will take another 2 hours to wait for mscorsvw.exe to finish working on whatever it is working on.
However, I wonder who the genius is, who copied or cloned the entire Microsoft update server.
Guide:

At least I think ....

So, I discovered another "misbehaving" behavior with Word.
When I was on Windows 95, opening .doc documents happened quickly, now that I'm on Windows 2000, some documents, and they are the same, tend to open very slowly. It takes just over a minute.
The strange thing is that if I try to open the same document again, Word opens it quickly, but if I close everything, and then reopen the same document, I have to wait another 60 or more seconds to open the document.
Why is this happening?
On windows 95 it didn't happen, yet the documents are the same.
Keep in mind that I'm talking about simple written documents, no photos or anything else that weighs down the file. A simple written document.

EDIT:
I found out, maybe the files were corrupted. By selecting all and copying the text, into a new document. The problem disappears.
Word opens the document quickly.
However, I discovered another problem, if I edit a document, after saving it, Word closes slowly!
But if I don't change anything, the problem doesn't arise.
Even when I create a new document, the problem appears. After saving it Word closes slowly.
Again, if I open the document just to read it. Word closes normally.
I don't understand...

No, I had Office 97 before (the problem of opening documents was always there, but I didn't try to save the document and close word). Then I tried the 2000. I found out the reason for the slow aperture, and fixed it. But for saving and then closing Word, the problem remained. Maybe Office97 also had the same problem when I'm closed the program.
I haven't done any office2000 updates though. I'll try the automatic updates as soon as I have time. I'll let you know later.

Nothing, I can't find any updates.
I should try manually.
I'm trying to download Office 2000 Service Release 1a (SR1a), from webarchive, I find the download page in Italian, but the file doesn't
download it, suggestions?

EDIT:
Now I noticed one thing, my office version is as follows: Office 2000 Professional SR1
Isn't it already updated?

Nothing.... some documents, keep opening slowly.
I found that when I save, Word works 100%. if I wait for the process to finish, then I can close the program, normally.
This is a really big problem for me since Word is the main application I use...

I don’t believe Microsoft Windows Update supported Office 2000. I believe you’ll have to follow C:Amie’s patching guide manually but then find your Italian specific language versions of those files.

No. Per Wikipedia:

Microsoft released three service packs for Office 2000 throughout its life cycle. The first update was called Service Release 1 (SR-1), while subsequent updates were referred to as service packs.

Also. Have you tried Abiword on Windows 2000? I wonder if that would be lighter than Word ?

After months of work, I'm starting to lose patience.
Libreoffice, from the latest version for windows 2000 to the oldest, is slower than ever before.
OpenOffice from the most recent version for windows 2000 to the oldest, is slower than ever before.
abiword? Same! Personally I think it's Windows 2000, why?
Because thinking about it, some programs I used like Total Unistaller, on Win95 or 98/ME worked like a charm. The same program on Win2000 is shockingly slow.
To uninstall a program, it takes you an hour. I had to install Revo Unistaller instead.
Some programs or functions that in theory should run fine, on this PC, with Windows 2000, don't run.
Even Office 97 that I've always used with Windows 95, with win2000 it runs like shit, a problem that comes with office 2000.
I'd like to understand why!
On the contrary, let's specify, Word has these problems, Excel doesn't.

What is the bottleneck when Word is hanging? CPU, RAM, disk queue length, interrupts, disk active time?

At each bike I found a sacred Atlantis Word Processor program.
I have no problems with this!
Either way it's behavior I don't understand...

For the guide, instead talk about updating office, to solve various problems, security, bug fixes, etc., etc.

You should at least install S{3 and all of the Word updates.

I want to make you an observation (I speak as an ignoramus).
Windows ME requires 150MHz minimum.
Windows 2000, 133MHz
Windows 2000 is now fully updated.
But I will tell you that to start the operating system, I have to wait 2 minutes, compared to WinME which starts in 30 seconds.
Yet from the minimum requirements, WinME should be heavier yet it is extremely lighter.
I can do all the updates to Office2000, as long as I find them in Italian, but I'm sure the problem won't be solved.
Windows 2000 hates my PC.

I can also try, but on the webarchive I find the pages in Italian, for example of: Service Release 1a (SR1a), but it doesn't download the file....
Let alone all the other updates....

In fact, no, I've never had any problems, until I installed Windows 2000.
