It's a Thompson IP1101, apparently a CE unit based on the PC architecture. Should be reasonably easy to unlock and use as a general purpose unit

If you’d like, you can try the compatibility by device and put in my HP t5540 to see which ones I’ve tested. (I’ve mainly focused on my MobilePros for compatibility but I’ll go back and try the t5540 again to add more testing )

Also, C:Amie, is there a way to search for architecture x86 in the SCL as opposed to it looking for tags or descriptions ?

In theory if you go to category view and set the device filter to an x86 device, the category view will show you. Most will be empty.

Also check TFGBD’s post of a list here

https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20640&st...

And what C:Amie mentioned:
Go here:
https://www.hpcfactor.com/hardware/devices/254/Hewlett_Packard/t5540

and scroll down, and click "View Compatible Software in SCL"

I know your device isn't in the Specs page, but if you don't mind posting a comment that it works on your unlocked device, that way people have an idea - even if it's not an "official" device here

I found three new x86 builds for you today and added to the SCL. (technically they require PocketC)

https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/579/OnHiatus_Software/A.C.T.2/version_...
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/576/OnHiatus_Software/LaunchPad/versio...
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/577/OnHiatus_Software/Pike/version_1.0

Also, here's a few other x86 builds that were already in the SCL, but were not mentioned earlier in this thread.

https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1223/Neozeed/Nethack_for_Windows_CE_x8...
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1242/ation/regdump
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1180/BYE_DESIGN_LTD/SpreadCE/version_3...
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1208/ScummVM/ScummVM/version_0.9.1

And these web browsers I couldn't get to work, but look for the CE5.0 version and try it (they're painfully slow)
There's a certain version for CE5.0, I don't remember which one

Also, check the device to see what version, if any, of the .NET Compact Framework is installed. If it isn't there, it can be downloaded here from the SCL as there are x86 versions of the runtime files. A lot of apps for CE 4 and later were written in either C# or VB.net for the .NET CF.

It's arrived! Plugin in a mouse allows me to access the Explorer pretty easily, though sadly the task bar is permanently disabled and changes don't persist upon reboot
I can see the NK.BIN file that it boots off, perhaps I could modify that to change the registry to stop it from autostarting the custom GUI?

And done! Boots to the desktop just fine now, but the screen goes very buggy when I open certain menus. Maybe I delete something that it depends on? Let's try that again

It appears that the file that does GUI/GPU initialization is also the one that's tasked with hiding the task bar.. Hmm.. Anyone have a program that unhides the task bar for x86? I have one of those for ARM, but that's obviously the wrong architecture

Hmm, does the font in the task manager process list look kind of weird and blocky to anyone else? I've seen it in other applications too, so it's not specific to the task manager. Wonder what's up with that

All of the shell fonts have been set to bold too, someone has been messing with the theme.
