I remember there being like a collection of software for x86 CE systems, does anyone have a link to it perhaps?

Sorry, I didn't know you meant that list. Now I know what you mean. Make sure to save that file!

I found another SCL x86 program for you

Oh my gosh, I had no idea there was an x86 version of milky! That's awesome. Sadly it's giving me the classic CE missing DLL error, perhaps because it needs GAPI? But where is there an x86 GAPI..?

Edit: It requires gx.dll and aygshell.dll, which might be hard to find for an x86 system
Edit 2: Thank god aygshell is already in the Windows directory, so it's just gx.dll
Edit 3: I managed to get a gx.dll from the Pocket PC SDK, but when I try to launch milky tracker it just flashes an invisible window open and shut and shows a message box with "Sorry, only supporting 16bit color". Hmm..

Edit disregard aygshell

I also found
http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/downloads
But too lazy to add it to the SCL yet. I’ll do it later this week.

Edit: in SCL
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1646/APRSISCE/32/APRSISCE/32/version_2...

It's a ham radio/APRS prog

Thank you! That's a great addition

It's sad that the majority of the links in the .txt are unavailable, even via archive.org. Was there ever a proper x86 CE repository made..? That would be wonderful, because its software library is extremely impoverished

I was honestly jealous of your CE5 MIPS device … if it had DVI for that reason. Even CE3 and earlier Software still is great and better than anything for x86. I wish there was a Textmaker build with docx for x86 and the device would be perfect for word processing !!
I heard someone at one point possessed an x86 builds of Textmaker for x86 but I think it was an unofficial port for press or testing purposes (if you search the hpcfactor forums you’ll find the post where they talk about it

Yeah, it's really annoying, the CE5 MIPS device has cut off screen corners and no full sound support, and the x86 device doesn't have those issues, but has basically no software available.. It's a shame! Still hunting for that perfect CE device I guess

What are you exactly looking to do with it Software-wise?
I can do some digging and specifically look for those areas and post links to them if I find any

You would do that? That'd be really cool! :]

The holy grail of software would be music software, like a midi sequencer or tracker (like milky tracker for example). Other than that I was just looking for the basics, like a text editing program (I want to find a way to get an x86 build of CE5 WordPad to add to the device at some point), perhaps an IRC chat client, perhaps archiving software that can compress and extract zip files and an image viewer
I'm not sure if it exists but an on-device programming/scripting thing like Aristar Dialect would be amazing too!

Hi, bear with me if I duplicate stuff I've sent before, but I did a bunch of digging in the SCL for you for stuff you may like.
Now, separate from that, I need to still look for a decent image viewer, and more notepad apps and also don't forget Total Commander lets your unzip files - it's a little clunky but it does work, I don't remember if it lets you actually compress / zip them up. Try that out!
Also: one more thing: I found this software for your Windows desktop PC that is fantastic- find any CE .exe and it should show you the dlls required, even if it's x86. I don't remember if I showed you that before, but just wanted to let you know. It's this : Dependency Walker maybe that'll help with your Mixer Cloud software thing

Umlaut
ScrnGrab
Punctuation Marks
MBA Calc
ButtonBar
ArtsSave
EZ Reader

Notepad * CAVEAT you have to find an MFC x86 .dll, or just try it - it didn't work on my t5540 but I was lazy and didn't find an appropriate .dll yet

Tiny Editor
MIDI Control
FourTrack
Drummer Boy
MidNote
PDR Mixer
PocketDrums
PocketSynth Pro
HPC Notepad
HPC Notes
ResInfo
WinWatch
CPU Load
vxSniffer
vxUtil

Also, I typed in '86' in the search field for downloads and came up with this list of everything in the SCL that is theoretically x86 compatible (but it's just a file name search, so it may not be 100 % authoritative. I just want this list to show up if people are trying to search)

Also, I found this old thread with quote from TFGBD:

Hey. Over some time I have compiled a list of the CE software I have come across that has an x86 version available. While there isn't much, there is at least some, and a lot of open source software you find can just be recompiled as well. Even SpreadCE, PocketTV and PocketDOS have native x86 versions available, so all hope is not totally lost. Many .Net Compact Framework programs may also run if you have the .NET Compact Framework in ROM. If you don't, it can be downloaded from Microsoft's site(use google). Visual Basic apps my also be usable if you install the runtimes (There are x86 builds of the VB runtimes included in the sdks for HPC 2000 and Pocket PC 2002). PocketC programs should work as well, as there is an x86 build of the runtime.
Anyway, here is my list:

Today, I added the following x86 CE programs to the SCL:
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1668/Freefloat/CELinq
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1667/Freefloat/AccessOne/version_1.3.2...
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1666/Freefloat/PrintOne
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1663/SJ_Labs/SJphone/version_1.50e
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1662/Southway_Corporation_Limited/Dial...

Still working at this aforementioned quoted list. I think a lot of those open source programs even though they don't have binaries for x86 were easily compiled for x86 by either TFGBD or someone else ? I think that's why they were included
Edit sorry I also had added this one
