I tried connecting a DVD drive to my CEPC just to see if it would succeed in playing anything, and to my surprise, TCPMP actually plays DVD! You just have to manually select the right .VOB file. Sadly it doesn't appear to work with commercial DVDs, only self-burnt ones. I wonder why?

I wonder if tcpmp doesn’t have the library to decrypt CSS encryption that dvds have. Maybe if there was a port of VLC to CE maybe it could do that ?
I know later versions of VLC had css decryption but I don’t know if any CE/PocketPC version would have it too but worth a shot perhaps ?

There was a version of VLC for CE, though I don't recall succeeding in getting it to work on any of my ARM CE devices. I downloaded two versions a long time ago, but after reading this thread it took me a little while to track them down. I've just uploaded both versions to the SCL so others can try:

I wasn't able to get it to work on MIPS either sadly

Yes and no
There’s a Korean site where they compiled a bunch of MIPS programs (that’s how we have a newer ScummVM for MIPS in the SCL)
I had the VLC for MIPS added and I dunk for bananas tried it but it wasn’t functional. So I had C:Amie delete it.
Then I used google translate and the Korean in the post for vlc for MIPS says it doesn’t work

Just like the same experience I had with the MIPS version of Windows Media Player 9.
