I've connected a USB disk to my router and I'm trying to access it from my CE device, which doesn't seem to be working at all. Is there some kind of standard procedure perhaps? I've been trying net use but it fails with either status 87 or 53

You need to ensure that it is using SMB 1.0 / CIFS and not SMB2.0+. Also, use the IP address and not the hostname.

Thank you! I think I'll stop at this point because SMBv1 is very unsafe and I'm worried about compromising the safety of my network. Shame that SMBv2 doesn't seem to be supported :/
