| Hi, I checked if there are apps that are on Brain Wiki but missing here, and found out that at least following apps are in such situation.
The following pages lists all popular apps among SHARP Brain users. Although this list includes many SHARP Brain specific apps and sometimes apps that are unclear about legality in copyright wise, some apps may be good to have on this site. Yes I tried to list all missing apps but I realized this involves much more work than I expected.
And idk whether this is well-known, but the following sites lists Windows CE apps, if this helps:
As a side note, I found the screenshot of TestCE here has different look as I expect. I'm more familiar with the attached look.
Edit: Oh, https://github.com/yvt/Agiletimbres/releases is also a major missing one. Also, I will try to be able to elaborate some app if you need help understanding them. Edited by watamario15 2023-02-22 5:05 PM

| You’ve done a good job on the Brain Wiki.
When I get back to the States, I’ll start working on the first set of programs you mentioned (and give you credit )
Yeah the copyright issues is what had made me unsure of uploading more to the SCL that I had found in the Brain Wiki. For example,
https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20701&st...
Here I asked if that version included the shareware data or full version.
1- I guess I could just delete all of the wad files to be safe then upload it like that?
2-Anyway, is there particular types of apps you know for sure don’t have any copyright issues and are indeed freeware or open source? For example, I could start with the categories that aren’t “games”?

| Well, as most contents are added by earlier maintainer of Brain Wiki, I'm not so sure whether they are permitted to be redistributed. I just took over it recently and mostly worked on fixing dead links, polishing, and adding development info.
I don't know which law (s ) are applied on this forum nor know copyright law in other than Japan either. Copyright law often has significant differences between each country, for example the US has fair-use but others don't. If this forum is not covered in the US law, to be "don’t have any copyright issues", I'd say you shouldn't archive anything that doesn't have explicit permission to be redistributed. (What makes Wayback Machine legal is that an US organization operates it in US therefore allows them fair-use of materials. )
Then for Duke Nukem 3D, I'd suggest leaving it not archived. The same applies to DOOM. They are really iffy that it's permitted for us to redistribute, and I don't know how to check it's actually a free demo either. Please be noted that the admin of the uploader site has left ages ago and currently admin-less, therefore no one can remove or block illegal files to be uploaded. | And for category, unfortunately no as each category contains mix of apps that are from different places. I might be able to check each licensing terms, but it involves huge work and not what I can do in short time period.

| Understood, I’ll start with the ones you mentioned and when I have time, I’ll try to cross reference known freeware titles to add to the SCL. (By running through search engine) |

Seems the same (readme matched ) as this, but please let me know if you disagree

Was already in the SCL, but I gave you credit and added the "µ" symbol to more easily locate it

I didn't add this one yet as it seems specifically for PocketPC, let me know if you disagree

Added to SCL

Added your screenshot as primary

| I didn't realize we have this thread; sorry. I'll put my comments on here rather than the comment section of the program. |

| For the following files:
BMP2BP ENG.exe
bmp2bp.EXE
Can anyone please add in the description that the program works in a Windows PC environment?
reference: "https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/30/TascalSoft/BMP2BP/version_1.0?page=details"
Thanks. |

Thank you for your help, it's always nice to have feedback, here's an update for you
@I dunk for bananas
Thank you as well!

Changed category to Host Application; Fixed description to emphasize for host PCs
^For IrChat
Need to do further research; I suspect it's a Palm Sized PC program (hence MFCCE2.01) but need to see if it works on a version of Windows CE higher than 2.01, thus 2.11 or 3.0 (obviously it won't work on 2.00, because lower number)
Todo for myself: Test program, update compatibility for CE versions
^For NetProfile
Copied 1.3 files from the 1.4 listing into their own 1.3 specific listing. Done
^For Dexxplorer
Todo for myself: Test program, update compatibility for CE versions

| I was doing some thinking.
We occasionally get users who create a thread about must have apps.
Perhaps a new section could be added to the SCL. Something like “Staff Must Have Picks” of their top 10 programs they can’t live without on Windows CE that are in the SCL.
Maybe the list could have a one sentence explanation why they chose that program too.
Obviously I wouldn’t want to add clutter to the SCL. I just thought it would be a good gateway tab for people to get into the SCL and perhaps filter some of the noise.
Lastly, I’m not advocating opening the flood gates for a bunch of individual lists.
Maybe start with a few staff members who reached out with their top five to ten apps?
For example, C:Amie, Rich, CE Geek, Jake, and Freda for now |

| Clint and John used to write top-10 lists, I think that Rich did one once. If anyone wants to write an updated one - or a specialist one (top 10 for writers, top 10 for dev's - , I am happy to publish it and it can be linked from the SCL. The problem is with it never getting updated. They need refreshing, shaking up, new things added. not just repetition. |

| What is the correct protocol for the following scenario?
Program XZY version 1.1 has binaries for the usual HPC CPUs, and source is available, but only for version 1.0.
But version 1.0 doesn't have binaries for anything, only the source code.
I don't want to clog the SCL with useless listings that don't even have a binary, so for simplicity sake, I suggest to just add the version 1.0 source code to the 1.1 listing so at least it's archived?
Example: Jinzo Novel has binaries for 1.01 available, but source for only 1.00. No 1.00 binaries I can find. |
