From time to time I'll see pictures of those generic Sylvania netbooks, and sometimes there'll be a little desktop widget thing. Do we know what that is? Is it perhaps in the SCL? I thought it might be cool to try out

I haven’t seen exact styles like a widget but I found launcher managers for Sharp brain in the SCL. I feel like if we scour Sharp Brain software sites you may find a widget style like that maybe ?
If I find one I’ll let you know

This does look like it might be a clue! Sadly none of the download links work anymore, even with archive.org
My hope is that maybe one of those downloadable ROMs contain the widget thing somewhere!

Here are links that may help you out.

Best Clocks & Alarms Software for Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional

"Retro is a Today plugin that displays an analog clock, similar to those wall clocks."

(Not sure if Today will work on Windows CE 6.0 but worth a try)

Good idea.

I downloaded this:
https://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/1163/Sylvania_OS_Update

I just extracted the .zip file, and

Under
script\System Disk\Program Files\wm_plg

There are DesktopPlg.exe and Clock.plg, Weather.plg etc. Maybe that is what you're looking for.

Under
script\System Disk\Program Files\wm_plg\SKINS\Clock

there are clock skins, so it might be the files.

regarding to the wm_plg, is that compatible for other device with base on windows CE 6 embedded version? I have tried but it won't run, when click the icon DesktopPlg.exe, nothing happen.

But who knows, maybe it's just an easy dependency fix

I thought maybe it only worked on WonderMedia processors, since I hadn't seen it on any other CE 6 netbooks - especially given that the applet has the WonderMedia name on top. But then I got hold of a CE 6 netbook with the AK8802 (Anyka) processor - with the same applet opening on startup. (Unfortunately I later bricked that netbook after tweaking just a little too much. )
