Welcome to the beta test for: nPOPuk.NEXT - a new release of the email client supporting higher security standards and longevity on Windows CE.
Organized by @Soju - one of the developers of OpenSSL with experience in getting it to run on Windows CE
There is one primary difference between the official 3.05 release and this 3.05.BETA.
The 3.05.BETA includes OpenSSL 3.0.7, a much newer version on Windows CE.
UPDATE 06-September-2023, It has now been released to the SCL, along with .cab files facilitating much easier installation.
Windows CE 4.2 for ARM, MIPSII, MIPSIV, and x86 processors are supported.
Any feedback can be posted in this thread.

Feedback is specifically needed on:
-Connection/Testing Overall Functions
-Gmail
-Microsoft 365 / Outlook
-POP3 TLS 1.2 /1.3
-Sending/Receiving Email
-SMTP TLS 1.2

HUGE thank you to: soju, gjcoram, watamario15, and C:Amie + all of our testers!
Recap below:

Show spoiler...

-New version of nPOPuk 3.05 E-mail client was released for Windows CE.
-3.05 released with an older version of OpenSSL (a prerequisite for nPOPuk)
-Original developer (gjcoram) was having issues with newer versions of OpenSSL for Windows CE
-Newer versions of OpenSSL will assist nPOPuk for longevity and better security
-We brought in an OpenSSL developer (soju) to assist us with that
Archived .zip files of beta releases:
Latest betas are listed below (organized by user: soju) & are currently for ARM, MIPSII, MIPSIV, and x86 CPUs with Windows CE 4.0-7.0.

Before running: you might need to put ca.pem (extracted from the .zip) at the system root directory so it becomes \ca.pem

For ARM: ARMv4_015 (01-Jan-23) + this Patch
Above release is expected final version if testing goes well.

For MIPSII: MIPS_II_002 (08-Jan-23)

For MIPSIV: MIPS_IV_000 (07-Jan-23)

For x86: X86_001 (03-Jan-23)
Above release is expected final version if testing goes well.

Volunteered Testers for Future Releases:

I wish I could bribe the developer with a donation for one final H/PC build :/
But it may be a lot of work. I don’t know the change log for 3.05…

I sent him a PM years ago addressing WinCE needs; it still sits in my outbox.

Can't blame him, of course. I just wish it had gone in a different direction.

torch, I've run his 32-bit nPOPuk on 64-bit without complaint. Do you find the same?

I haven't honestly used it yet but I wanted to give it a try... but I think 3.05 binary got pulled because it gives a 404 error for me
BUT !!!
I discovered something!

The 3.05 source code I was able to download includes CE versions...so compiling is possible I would imagine!!!

Edit: If the source code is available for CE, maybe CE versions are forthcoming - perhaps we'll wait and see, but I have a backup plan with eVT I'll try to get up and running in the meantime

Do you think we could email him? The nPOPuk support forum doesn't seem to work at all sadly

I sent an email in October asking about a final CE release with an offer of a donation. No reply.
Edit : I’m not trying to shame the developer at all. I greatly respect their work over several years for Windows CE. The fact they had supported it thus far for so long is incredible. Plus, even if 3.05 isn’t officially compiled for CE, the fact it’s there in the source code for 3.05 is very nice !
Kudos

Also, I think some developers no longer have their H/PCs. The devices have broken, etc. I find the same with the Palmtops; people advise from memory, not because they actually own the machine.

Correct. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt for a week or so since even win32 exe gives a 404. But I’m working on getting evt setup so I can try and compile the source for CE. They’re .vcp files. I don’t know anything about compiling so I’ll have to see how it goes

Someone else is welcome to give it a try in the meantime. I don’t claim exclusivity

I was able to get nPOPuk (THE NON SSL VERSION, I don't recommend actually using this for email) compiled for HPC2000 (MIPS/x86/ARM)
Tested and working on MobilePro 790. (lol I didn't really test test it but just opened the exe, seems to work)
If you want to try it out, here ya go

Hello nPOPuk fans!
I'm not dead, my Jornada 820 is still in a cabinet at my house ... Greg (the original driving force behind nPOPuk) forwarded me torch's email just last week, and that reminded me that I hadn't logged in here in a while (and found Jake's email from ... wow, 2 years ago? I thought I had visited HPC:Factor since then, but maybe I just browsed the forums without logging in).
I can certainly compile the nPOPuk 3.05 source code for WinCE. However, I don't know if that's useful without an updated version of the OpenSSL code. I think I'm still using the 0.9.8 series because I had some trouble compiling 1.0.1 on WinCE. And I think upgrading to the current 3.x.y series of OpenSSL is a big chore, because a lot of the function prototypes have changed.
