Good evening!

What is your dictionary app of choice?

I think I've tried most of the ones in the SCL at this point.

eedict seems ok, although the definitions seem a bit archaic.

Lextionary seems good but it's stuck in trial mode. MDict 3.0 doesn't run for me. ThesaurusCE is fine but it's a thesaurus and I'd prefer a dictionary.

What do you folks use? Is there one I should revisit?

p.s. one usable albeit awkward option is to get webster's unabridged from project gutenburg, split it up into smaller files, and open with any text editor...

Technically for Pocket PC, haven't tested it on H/PC
But:
Install this first
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1041/dstefanov/Microsoft_.NET_Compact_...
then
go here for info:
https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1388&pos...
then go here for download info:
https://web.archive.org/web/20060315040807/http://www.ebswift.com/Co...

If this doesn't work, I'd recommend searching .net compact framework 1.0 dictionary programs and see what you find for more options

I never tried dictionary apps on my H/PCs but, I think there are a couple that supports EPWING.

One such application is: EBPocket

I shouted that out sometimes , too

Did you now try some on your HPC? I like the idea and want to use some dictionary and/or thesaurus on my 720.

It's a piece of software that needs no network but it can demonstrate some of the back in the days useful features of these devices.

watamario15 found this software to the SCL for us:
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1872/yvt/XTBook/version_0.2.6

I know it's for CE 6.0 but maybe you can compile it for CE2.11? Who knows
