| Hi kids,
Well......after parting with the 200LX I had earlier this year, mainly due to issues with my ability easily/clearly read the little display, I decided to come back to the LX fold, and received a nice 8MB-Double Speed 200LX yesterday.
So, I'm back and hopefully, will be happily using the 200LX for a long time now. My eyesight issue has improved a bit, so, feel more comfortable with small displays again. Still a bit of an effort, but OK.
Now I have to get back up to speed with using the 200LX, DOS, etc....
But a fun challenge.....
Just thought I'd warn you guys that I'll be around here again and may need some help here and there....
And a few pics of the new addition to my HPC stable....
Mark

| Looks great! Don't know if I could ever get used to that type of keyboard, though. But I share your vision issues....even my Jornada screen is harder to read than it used to be. |

Thanks...yeah, that keyboard is not ideal, probably wouldn't try and write a novel on it....but for little jobs it's fine....and had same issue with my J720, so, parted with it a while back....
FWIW, my name's Mark and I grew up in PDX.....
Many good memories of my P-Town days...

What a cool machine!
Thanks!
There's a surprising amount of things you can do with these...

Thanks, there isn't officially....there a few people that upgrade them to 6 or 8MB and do doublespeed mod by changing frequency crystal.
UsedHandhelds.com in USA and Michel Bel (I think that's his name ) in Europe.

200LX's can support up to 128MB of memory... 4 Ras lines each supporting 32MB max (rather 16Mx16bits, or 4K _Ras * 4K _ (L,R )Cas*16 bits ) but that is a major effort, you have to solder wires directly on the processor. if you want to go beyond 8MB. The best site to study that is the old site of Forestar:
http://home.r03.itscom.net/forestar/hp100_200LX.htm
I am working on 16MB upgrades as piggybacks on the 2MB chips. Design is ready, chips laying ready, but courage not yet. But as I still have some 50 motherboards remaining, I can risk a few (and yes, I did some 8MB, 32MB and 64MB upgrade customer repair jobs in recent years. )

Wow! Michel, that is great work you are doing!
If you get some 16MB or higher boards available, I'd be interested......
Will contact you about some of the parts shown on your website.....

You are most welcome!
Yeah, 128MB that would be the cat's pajamas, as the Brits used to say.....
