HXD is a windows tool. Can you try some kind of live dvd or life dvd for Linux ? The tools should probably be more low level and robust

I was just about to give up but a Windows tool did end up working, I managed to copy over the contents with Macrium Reflect and it works just fine now. I am insanely relieved that it works now.

Good to hear! Congratulations. Now I’ll be able to keep that in mind if I upgrade my x86 thin client.

So it sees all 4gb?

That's not to say that there aren't Windows tools that aren't able to do it, I can think of a couple that would (not free). I am glad you sorted it though.
