How would I be able to tell if it was just blanking or actually suspending? It seems to go into a full suspend when I hit the power button (running netbsd beta 3 here), takes a little while to turn off and a little while to turn back on.

easy... just watch battery life...

It probably lowers the processor frequency as well, especially if it takes a little bit to turn on. But a full suspend would be just keeping the ram on. I guess that is more complicated than it should be.

But I doubt it is a full suspend, if you leave it like that for a day it will probably not turn on again. (Or a night)

MP780 with 4.0Gb Cf microdrive with orinoco wireless.

I made /usr the largest partition -2.5GB

Complete install with X11.

I untarred pkgsrc and added following packages:

pkg-tools
matchbox - configure ./xinitrc in $HOME$
dillo
elinks
xfe
filerunner
gentoo - the filemanager- not the linux dist.

Currently building Firefox in hour 74 of build process. This may be a problem.

I did initial boot from a smaller CF in pcmcia holder with 4GB microdrive in CF slot.

So far the system works fine. I lost network and rebooted without problem.

Um.

If you are on hour 74...

How about helping me out with figuring out the cross compiler mystery? It does not matter that it is a different processor, I just need to figure out how to do the blasted thing.

Your handheld probably ran out of ram. My 720 did that the first time I tried compiling Pine. Try cutting down on some processes first. The Firefox binary is not too big. (Pine made 8mb of binaries).
