Does anyone else carry their H/PC around daily? What do you carry it in?

I've been looking at different solutions and I'm really curious what you all are doing. I'm looking at solutions for my NEC MobilePro 780, but also interested in others.

p.s. Torch has a really cool carry solution which he shared recently here and for something a little smaller, dl1av recently dropped this one. Pictures appreciated and I'll include a couple of my own as well!

Attaching my current carry setup. It's ok, but I find the laptop bag to be too tall since the H/PC case is mostly in the bottom half.

What were you looking in a bag? Obviously you want something not as tall and more comfortable when you travel.

But what specific characteristics were you looking for ?

I have the same black leather case for my 790. Agree, it would be nice if it was a bit slimmer in thickness.

For my little HP 200LX, I decided to get a custom leather case for it. So that it will fit closely.

Ordered it from a shop on Etsy that I've have gotten two other leather laptop cases (1 sleeve & 1 zippered case, both custom sized from him over the past two years.
Good leather choices and well-made.

The shop goes by name Aldona Shop. Owner is Ajay Bansal, in India. I've found he's very responsive in communication through Etsy messages and you can even email him directly too.

I'd post a photo, but my new case is in transit now, probably will enter US tomorrow...

Ordered 12/28 and shipped 1/6....think that's pretty good for a custom-made item.

Check it out and if you write him, let him know Mark referred you.

I'll post photo after I receive case.

Other company you can check out is Waterfield Bags, in San Francisco.

https://www.sfbags.com/

If you can find something you think works, they are very well made, bought from them in the past, but no custom sizing.

if I remember other sources, I will post again....

Torch-
Great question. I'm definitely struggling between carrying the whole ecosystem with me (cables, cards, batteries, external modems/connectivity, etc) and wanting to go minimalist and just carry the bare necessities (maybe just the H/PC and a spare battery). The leather case is nice but has very little room for anything else at all, not even the battery. The laptop bag is at the other end of the spectrum- I can carry everything but end up wasting (mostly vertical) space and carrying a giant bag. I feel like there are probably multiple solutions to this problem, so that's why I am wondering what others are doing.

Mark-
That leather shop looks pretty amazing! I can see why you like it. Ditto sfbags.com...wow! Several of those look like they could fit the bill. Do you tend to carry spare battery, etc when you go out with your H/PC in tow?

Thanks....yes, very nice products I think....

I don't tend to carry much extras, just AC charger and CF card, wifi card....that type of thing....for better or worse, most my devices don't have extra battery...

I have a leather 'brief bag' with lots of compartments, so, I put the AC chargers there, and cards, unless there's a slip pocket in the hpc case.

These custom made leather cases look really pretty and I will definitely try them.

Sometimes I ordered some custom made sleeves from that company:

https://www.fitbag.com/

That is no leather but a very soft and lightweight fabric for the precious ones

I use the original leather HP case for my J728 which goes most places with me. No space for accessories though just business cards, and a pen or stylus.

The case offers good protection and isn't too bulky.

@ArchiMark I like the idea of a custom leather slip case for it!

That's about how the MP case is- if I'm really pushing it I can also get my LAN card in there.

Here's another possibility I'm looking at:

Timbuk2 Classic Messenger (Small)

That looks quite nice, pricy though!

I have a three compartment wrist strap bag which is perfect for the smaller HP's. H/PC in the centre, PC Cards, serial cable and dongles one side, pen slots and a couple of other pouches on the other side.

Would you mind giving the dimensions of your bag? Is that a jornada you have in it?

Thanks for sharing this company.

Looks like nice, simple designs....they do have an option for leather sleeves too.

Looks like a good case with lots of room for accessories....it is thick though....but maybe that's what you need.

With a 320 in it, accessories (it is a bit puffed out as a result) it is:
220mm x 105mm x 100mm

The strap is 210mm from tip to case edge.

The only tag in it says:
