So during my scavenger hunt with Windows CE tonight, I randomly found a job listing for a Windows CE developer for a Singaporean Company.
Preface : obviously I have no idea if this company is legitimate nor am I advising anyone to actually apply. It was more an interesting find than anything else that there are places that still need it.

I mean it’s logical to conclude they have legacy equipment most likely.

I’ll just quote the links so you don’t have to open the pages up.

Wow that's wild. But not really surprising. My aunt was a COBOL and FORTRAN programmer for a bank until just a few years ago. The backend stuff supporting their infrastructure was all ancient.

Agree.....

Company I work for (a very large one....) has a legacy program for entering in our time worked.

I have to open a program called 'Mainframe' (that should be a hint....).....

When it opens it has a black background with green text....

I have to move the cursor around by using the arrow keys....

Definitely feels like computing in the 70's.....

So, there are still oldie but goodie programs out there....which could include WinCE....

A lot of industrial equipments and even airplanes have Windows CE stuff in it, like for example flight entertainment system.

These legacy embedded OS actually have a niche market, and although not in high demand, people who can really do it gets the job.

I hear a lot of equipment in airplanes don't get updated for a long time so yeah....

There's actually a huge ton of Windows CE developer listings, even if you just search it on the site you linked

That's good.

Here in Japan, I think a lot of developers use Android / Linux.

For example, this Nikkei job listing has only 8 job openings for Windows CE.

Isn't Windows Embedded Compact 7 support officially until 2021? haha

The ad mentions batch files. You can do so much in batch, even if it is fairly slow. There's even a GUI for batch: https://wizapp.sourceforge.net/

Old tech can be very useful, even in Win10 and Win11.
