| Hey guys,
I wondered why I read so little about the 300LX.
The popular LX are presumably the 95 and the 200. Well these are the guys I find a lot...
But... I found an ad where someone sell a 300LX for 39 €.
Well that's actually a bargain, or?

| They are fairly rare. They were the beta of HP's transition from DOS to CE. It is very limited device functionally, but that was the nature of the experiment as HP were playing catch-up to NEC who had already released in November 1996.
Moved to CE 1.0 |

| That should also be the reason why I haven't seen an auction with this device here in Germany.
yes ok they are restricted Sure, HP's first device with Windows CE, right? But for the showcase, 39 euros is an unbeatable price. I think I'll get this thing. |

| We have a bunch of CE1.0 programs in the SCL. The Japanese released a ton of them. If you click the Japanese tag a lot of those programs work on ce1.
Good luck and welcome to the forum ! I see you’re a developer! |

| So... a few days ago my 300LX arrived.
The seller wrapped it in foil and put a postage sticker on it. No package at all.
The device was so damn cold, I had to wait hours before I took a first run.
The seller also left his batteries in. Argh...
So after a few hours I started the device....ehm no sorry...I TRIED.
the device did not turn on. batteries out, batteries in..nothing. contacts were fine. nothing happened. I was about to open the device when it suddenly ran. yeeha. everything great. the previous ones will be added soon. I love these DOS devices. It's a shame they aren't discussed here.

| The 300LX is a CE 1 device, not DOS.
We have a DOS Palmtop forum here: https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=52 |
