That looks fantastic, stingraze. You still make me want a Sigmarion.

If you ever want to buy a Sigmarion, let me know. I think I may be able to help.

I just got a Netbook Pro! Neat little device, only the hinge is a bit dodgy and would probably break at one point if i'm not careful!

Psion actually made the original netbook - before there were netbooks.

As requested by NetBSDmeister grand wizard, TZ......here you go....

My current HPCs and pocket computers.....

Note: please ignore the vertical lines on the Astro Slide.....think it relates to the slide mechanism behind the display. You do NOT see this at all when using the Astro.

The astro slide keyboard looks a lot bigger in your pic than I thought it was...are the keys close to MobilePro size?

Must be the perspective....MP790 is much larger device....

Astro keyboard is about 6.5" across and typical letter key is about 0.5" wide.

MP 790 keyboard is about 9.1875" across and typical letter key is about 0.6875" wide.

Ah ok, that makes sense. On a scale from jornada to mobilepro, how do you find the typing on that thing?

If you mean the Astro, it's not too bad considering how small it is....after you use it a week or two, you get used to its size....

The Astro keyboard is roughly about 0.5" shorter across than J720 to give you an idea....So, is a bit smaller than J720.

I can sort of do touch typing...with a little 'hunt & peck' mixed in....still it's really nice to have pocket phone with a keyboard and that you can sit it on a desk surface like a tiny laptop and use it that way.

HTH

I like your Astro, ArchiMark. Looks great! I also like the Zaurus, we don't see that here in Japan. I think it's the overseas model.

Thanks, sting!

Zaurus is the ZR-5800, the last version in that series...from around '96 ? has 2MB RAM and can turn on backlight on display, otherwise, similar to ZR-5700 (1MB & no backlight).

The Synergy OS is quite good and well thought out, hardware is very good and well made.

If only Sharp had continued making these pocket handhelds....like a Netwalker with a decent keyboard and unlocked the OS to make it easy to update to newer versions of linux.....oh well...
If you see Mr Sharp over there, please tell him to do so. Thanks!

Hello everybody,

actually that's a shame they don't make this kind of models anymore.

AliExpress is selling this kind of small laptops these days, like this one :

https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005002780120161.html

But it does't fit in the pocket.

I personnaly have a Casio Cassiopeia A20-G :

Show spoiler...

There are some german inscriptions on the keyboard, because I mixed a French Casio Cassiopeia A20-F with a German Casio Cassiopeia A20-G for some spare parts.

I am going to receive a HP Jornada 720 very soon, I am eager to receive the parcel.
