Sigmarion II suggestions + info on the battery

Hi all, I'm new here!

I recently fell in love with the Sigmarion II while looking for a fun way to take notes and just had to have one.

The little cutie arrived today and I've been getting to know it, however the one I bought unfortunately appears to have a dead battery (which honestly... understandable given the age). So I'm just wondering if it would be worth be picking up another SigII for the battery or if there's 0 chance of any battery working anymore.

I'm also looking for suggestions on what to do with it! I've had a quick look through posts for it and found some fun looking stuff, but this is my first HPC and I'm not quite sure where to start. Any advice would be very welcome.

Given the age of the device (2001) you are not going to find any device with batteries in better condition unless you find one that has been re-celled. Which, is really the better option over getting a while new device just to get its battery pack.

Following the gist of my advice in https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20744&st... you'll either have to DIY it or find a re-cell company to do it for you. It's very probably just a couple of 18650's, cheap as chips and common as pennies.

Thank you for the suggestion! I've reached out to a few different places that offer battery refitting in Australia so I'll keep you guys updated if one is able to.

As for what you can do with it- it just depends on your interests. I would start looking at our Software Compatibility List (SCL) and browse for programs
You'll look for anything compatible with Windows CE 3.0 / HPC2000 MIPS
^Typically programs designed for CE 2.0 (HPC 2.0) and CE 2.11 (HPC Pro 3.0) will work too

Totally! Many have gotten back to me saying that they are unable to help, but one place wants me to come in and see them and another said no initially but then got back to me saying maybe lol. I'm going to see the first place tomorrow and am in talks with the other place so hopefully one of them is able to! I'm still waiting to hear back from another 2 places I think.

What I use with my H/PCs is a CF to SD adapter like

I use it on my NEC MobilePro 790 which is roughly comparable in specifications as yours. I could only get 8GB SD cards or smaller to work though (or a higher card will only read the first 8GB- don't really recommend that for data loss purposes)

Thanks for the tip! I have a few older systems that I've played around with that have similar problems with modern cards being too big so I figured that would be the case lol. It's not like the files are all that big though so I doubt I would need too much space.
