Unlock GPS device (Holux GPSMile 55)

For fun I want to unlock and update my Holux GPSmile 55, also known as Hannspree HG01, that runs on Windows CE core 5.0
I've tried everything I could find on the internet but no luck.
The problem is that it boots into a screen with buttons for GPS, etc.
I can't control the device in a way to open explorer.exe from a laptop.

When I press that button it looks for HANNspreenavi.exe but it can not find it.
Renaming another GPS app on the SD card does not work.
I looked in the CE-register but can't find anything that point to this app.

I also tried to run Mio Pocket on the sd card but I can't get it to run from my laptop either.
Any suggestions?

Can it connect to the PC via ActiveSync? If so, you can use CERegEdit to edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/init in the GPS device's registry from the PC.

I tried that. There is nothing there that relates to the problem.
