Hi, The error message is showing up on the C140's screen.
-------------------------------
I know that I tried to install H/PC explorer serveral months ago. I had problems then and uninstalled it.
(I didn't pursue it then because of the problem with Activesync and H/PC explorer running at the same time.
)
--------------------------------
I am currently using COM1 on the C140
(CE1.0
). I have been using COM2 for Activesync and my RS232 hookups
(CE2.0 and 2.11
). This evening I will try to swap the port connections
(in case something is wrong with my PC RS232 port.
--------------------------------
As far as the Beta software. Its pretty cool. I see how you use Kill the running software and shuffle in the correct .dll's. I think you are on to something. It seems to work properly. I have noticed that I get some errors switching software in the same session.
--------------------------------
My Network connections are as follows:
On my current COM1 setup, I've done the following:
In "Network Connections" I have and Incoming section with "Incoming Connections" In its Properties on "General" Tab I have checked "Communications cable between two computers
(COM1
)". On the same screen "VPN" is not checked. The "Show icon in notification ..." is checked.
(Note: If I check both COM ports on this screen, I get errors when Activesync is turned on
(No ports are available.. or some such error.
)
On the "Users" tab has the Guest user only checked. The "Always allow directly connected devices such as palmtop computers ...." is checked.
The "Networking" tab has all Network components checked.
----------------------------------
Finally, I normally have the Windows Firewall on. I have tried syncing with it both enabled and disabled.
----------------------------------
Let me know if you see any discrepancies or errors. Also, note, I have never sync'ed the Compaq unit before on any machine. I bought it over a year ago at at thrift shop. It was virtually new with all documentation and packaging
(except the software CD
). I do have a Win98SE machine downstairs that I can try it out on
(when my son goes back to school
).
Thanks... DG
