| I'm using 1800s now, but would like to go up to 2200. Would that be a problem for the Velo? What sizes have already been tested?

| AA's are actually rather convinient. They last longer than nimh cells, and since the Velo had a great battery life, you only have to replace them every month or so, unless if you use pcmcia cards and the backlight often. Also, I can get 10 AA's for $2 so... |

| Since I find the Velo's screen--unless outside--to be pretty murky, I use the backlight all the time. That will eat up some batteries, I'll tell you.
So I went from 1800s to 2500 NiMH, and I can get six hours out of them, including constant backlight and going on-line via IR and GPRS, email, text news, Avantgo, the works.
My 1800s broke down and cried when I tried such a procedure with them. I got tired of their whining

| this just shows the battery life of hpcs using AA's isn't unbeatable at all. li-ion batteries are so much more powerful but of course AA's are easier to get.. now thats unbeatable |

| Cmonex, those 2500's were NiMH
I still do not understand why backlights take so much power. Aren't they just green led's? They do not take much at all. |

That is EXACTLY why I chose the HP 360LX and the Nino 300... I do NOT have to buy a $70 rechargable battery... |

| Still, it is only green led's, or are they something else? Because green leds can run on a pair of two AA's for a very long time, they should not affect battery life too much at all, compared to the rest of the machine running. But on many, the battery life drops 10% instantly.
Anyone have a good explanation? |
