| Hope someone can assist.
I need to communicate with a Cassiopeia A10 to download some softwarte to it. However when I attempt to load explorer I get the error meesage that HPC manager is running and must be shut down?
I am running Win XP - is it possible to install the old communication software explorer onto XP. If not, is there a work around?
I get the same message when I attempt to install explorer onto a Win 98 PC.
Thanks in advance.

strange, it worked fine on a win98SE laptop for me. not sure what the message could be. were you installing hpc explorer 1.1? (or 1.0? ) |

| My old P1 98SE computer works great with HPC Explorer 1.1... cmonex is right.. HPC Explorer 1.0 had just too many bugs and 1.1 just works great with my Velo.. |

|
| When I try to install Explorer 1.1 I get the message "Setup cannot proceed, H/PC connection manager is running"
I have tried closing all programs running in the background, firewalls the lot - still no go!
Any ideas?
Thanks |

| Do you have ActiveSync / Windows CE Services / Older HPC Explorer installed? |
|
|
|
| IF YOU HAVE installed the old version of HPC Explorer (1.0) you got this error.
Uninstall the HPC Explorer (1.1) and delete all folders in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft HPC Explorer" or any folders that have "HPC Explorer" in name.
Reinstall the HPC Explorer and try again.
If you doesn't got successfully, I Doesn't know....

| Then your A11 must have the CE 2 upgrade.. |

| this is happing all the time.
no matter if I turn both off and then on again.
must be cos the Casio connection shows as "acesso não autorizado" (portuguese for something like "unauthorized access" .
Then I tried to add the HPC´s name as a user. Didn´t worked. any ideia? |

| I did exactly as told on the XP link
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/c/0002.asp
Except I have a USB-to-serial adapter so I can hook up my Hitachi HPW-10 to my new PC. But the PC assigned COM4 port and when I set the connection up the window only gives me the COM3 fax/modem as an option! Anyone know how I can force the HPC Explorer to connect to COM4? Thanks

| Did you read the footnotes in the CESD? |

| Yes, I finally got XP to recongize the HPC, and the HPC does connect via PC link on COM4. BUT HPC Explorer won't open! So how do I get that thing to work, and be able to transfer files? Thanks guys, we're halfway there |
