| I was browsing the web for some software for my Handheld 2000 device, when I ran across a huge CE 1.0 software archive.
http://velo.8k.com/
Most of the links appear to still work and almost all of it is freeware.
I hope you enjoy! |

| Joe's a good guy. He had some misfortune some time back and wasn't able to keep his site going. I believe he has moved on now in life to greener parstures.
This is the Handheld Attitude of the CE1 world. |

Can someone tell me why UNREAL runs on CE1.0 and IE5.5 cannot be made to run on HPC2000??
Oh I know, cos UNREAL is *not* written by M$!!!
ok ... I'm still not giving up on proper web surfing on my MP790.
Then again, a thought occured to me last night. Since I am able to surf hpcfactor.com rather well on my MP790 as it is, why do I even bother with anything else!!??
psst ... C:Amie ... do I get 1000 bonus posts points for this? |

| Lol it is just using something similar to VNC or VNC to see the screen on the desktop computer which happens to be running Unreal Tournament....GRR this does not work in linux as it gives vnc its own screen...hahah another hit on how weak windows is . |

| heh heh, that gives me an idea ... maybe I could just terminal (or remote connect as XP calls it ) into the XP common machine and access google hotmail etc.
Then again, that defeats the whole purpose as that machine is 1 ) Very noisy and 2 ) not constantly powered on. |

| It's using Symantec's pcAnywhere CE. Which was killed off years ago and has no connection support to the latest pcAnywhere releases |

| It wasn't freeware. It was payware. There was a trial, but it is no longer available.
The only thing we can provide anyone with through this site is the Windows CE 2.0 colour update. |

| I heard that it was released for free and kept on the Symantec servers for a very short period of time. And then it was killed off. |

| Like Most other CE's if you get a .exe its from the pc. or if its a .cab it is straight on the h/pc.
Hope this helps:

| You download the installer to a PC, run it, then end it with an error because you don't have the cable. Then search for the cab file of your program, (sorry I can't be more specific, but just search for the filename ) and then copy the cab to the compactflash card. If you don't want it to kill itself, mark it read-only. (Leave it to Microsoft to come up with a suicidal filetype ) |
