No, asking for a serial number or software is warez..

Warez is Widely used to denote cracked or pirate versions of commercial software. In other words, illegal pirated software. Source: http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&start=0&oi=define&ei=sfahRKrXGqukYIv...

That link didn't work, but anyway, I've never heard of that before. I still think it sounds like a city in New Mexico. ;+)

You talking about Juarez? (Ciudad Juarez is in OLD Mexico.)

Hey, tenjeangosi, I don't know if Microsoft will do this, but if you lose the program to a hard reset and can't find the registration key, sometimes if you explain this to the software distributor, they'll reissue a key by e-mail. ('Course, that requires that you already be registered online as the owner, which won't help if you bought it used. And, admittedly, I have my doubts whether Microsoft would be that nice even if you bought it new.) Richard Lang's site did this for me with Chess Genius, and PDAAdvanced did it for me for PDARubix. ('Course, those were downloaded from the sites directly and unlocked after I paid the registration fees online in my name.)
