Clio NXT is Being Tested at Duke Univ Business School

A truly great HPC is throughly updated and being tested at Duke.

The product is very late (over a year) coming out, but has been updated during the delay.

I should have more information very soon. In the meantime check it out at www.dataevolution.com.

I'm hoping there are some spec changes on the Clio.

After all, it's sister "Cathena" has more memory. I figure the testing at Duke will let Data Evolution know Clio needs more than 64 mb.

You people want the Clio to be priced around $500. and that would be great in a perfect world. I don't see it that low (nothing in it's class is that low). But, if you pre-ordered, like I did, it's $799.00.

Also, if Dell really sells them (the agreement at least was in place, at one time) the price could go down as the number of unit's sold goes up.

The Clio 1050 was fantastic in it's time (six years ago). My guess is Data
Evolution want's Clio NXT to be just as good.

I think you people need to be more positive. All the posts about this product (on the other forum mentioned above) are very negative.

Users of Clio everywhere loved the product, and I think Data Evolution will
do it right this time too.

so... i'm trying not to be negative

It's already wrong based on the current specs and price.

Clio always had the best form factor of any tablet/convertable.

The product had a cult following like Newton. The new one can't be all bad.

Small is fine if you want a PDA. Clio is closer in size to a laptop. I like
that myself.

Hey people,

I bet you can't find a small tablet/convertable of any kind for less than $1000, much less one with the reputation of Clio.

If you're looking for a PDA you shouldn't be considering a Clio NXT.

But, technically, even the Clio NXT is a PDA.

I don't have the price on the Clio anymore, though I would assume it still carries the $1000.00 tag. I pre-ordered mine and got it for $200.00 less ($799.).

The latest info. that I have comes from Data Evolution's web-site at:
www.dataevolution.com.

I don't think the Clio is a PDA.

It will have a better browser, better software, an actual keyboard, a 10 inch
screen, a longer battery life, usb ports, a pc card slot and much more.

If that's a pda to you fine, but it's not to me. I own a pda (toshiba e-755), a XP Tablet/Convertable and a Clio 1050 (the six-year old latest version). An updated Clio would be my preference. It's the perfect computer for me to take on the road. Tough, portable, useable, and fun!

Heard from Robert Sowah (CEO) at Data Evolution today.

Here's the news as I have it.

Clio will have 99% capabilities of "Word," "Powerpoint" and "Excel."

A 6 to 8 hour battery life.

USB slots that work for most anything.

The battery will be different and how you get to it will be different. This way the internal SD Card slot will be much easier to get to.

MP3 capabilities: yes.

They want models of both Clio and Cathena up and ready for the education conference (last year this was at the end of June). Delivery will be after that, though I cannot give you a date.

Currently the price is $999.00, they are doing their best to get it under that a little. Robert said that Clio will be an enterprise solution,
and companies will come on board (at that price) because Clio NXT will be cheaper to maintain than a laptop, yet offer many of the same benifits a full laptop does. That said, those who pre-ordered at $799.00 need not worry. Your pre-order price will absolutley be honored.

(Anyone who posts on this form thinking Clio's price should be $300.00, does not understand who Clio is really intended for.)

My thoughts..................................................

Will it be a success?

Well, let's put it this way, if you were going to buy 50 laptops for your employees and you didn't want to worry about the cost of viruses, fragile harddrives, etc., but you did want more abilities for your workers than a pda offers, where are you going to go?

Clio NXT is your answer. And, it will be the only answer!

Doctors, nurses, educaters, drivers, stockbrokers, salespeople, and you name it.

Note: I want it known on this forum I do not work for Data Evolution in any way.
(I have not said this in awhile.) Robert though, has informed me, (since I have been-
as he put it- "their biggest Clio flagwaver" on a number of forums) that they will be sending me the new Clio for my efforts.

Therefore, if you want to consider my views somewhat biased that's up to you.
