I wonder if it has any implications for HPCs? |

| The new Windows CE version is codename Cardhu, it's closed details have been known for a while.
Exciting times, but remember this is a core release not a platform.
I have no doubt that we will see it in some form or another on a clamshell style device, whether that is a WM6 or CE6 device remains to be seen. It's my view that the market can't support core OS release devices currently, so unless Microsoft pull a white rabbit from a hat with Cardhu, expect platforms. |

| I agree - platforms for the consumer. The core OS is used in a lot of things these days but most are not seen by the consumer. |

| Anyone else catch the fact that the announcement came on the tenth anniversary of the birth of Windows CE? |

| November.
Let me clarify the above here too, Windows CE's birtday - i.e. the date it was finished isn't May 9th. It may have been announced to the public for the first time May 9th, but it wasn't born on May 9th. |

| Well, I quote the following article in WindowsForDevices.com cited by tenjeangosi in a similar thread:
http://windowsfordevices.com/news/NS9022042332.html
"Happy 10th birthday, Windows CE!
"Microsoft also noted that the May 9 release of Windows CE 6 comes on the tenth anniversary of the original introduction of the OS."

| Well, what is indisputable is that that day (9 May 2006 ) is the first anniversary of my entry into cyberspace - the day I started receiving Internet service for the first time. (Soon thereafter, I began visiting a site called HPC:Factor on a regular basis. ) Edited by CE Geek 2006-05-12 4:41 AM

I got on in the January/February of 1996, so we all share the same anniversary. You, me and CE. |
