Ok, for those of you who have successfully installed linux on your Jornadas, which version of linux (Knoppix, etc), and which set of instructions did you use? Ie:

http://720degrees.org/

or

http://homepage1.nifty.com/kyou-kyou/jornada/en/howto_install001.ht...

or

http://www.lowlevel.cz/log/pivot/entry.php?id=41

or a different set? Or your own? If you've successfully installed linux on your Jornada, please share! I'm dying here...

Thanks a million!

I am using 720degrees, as I am a big fan of Debian. The problem is that 720degrees gives you only enough documentation to install the basic system and get a console. So far, there is no formal documentation about how to fix things like the clock at bootup screwing up fsck, how to get the system to use the full 64 MB on a J728 (or upgraded 720), how to get X up and running, etc. The only real documentation is the 35+ page thread on it, here on the factor, but there is no way to easily search it, and most of it is filled with non-relevant jabbering. I would gladly make a permanent faq on my web-server, if someone could supply a few answers.

Well, i tried using 720degrees, and on one lucky occasion where it didn't just freeze while starting up and turn off, I actually managed base-config new, but couldn't go any farther than that stupid pink menu. I configured everything I could there, but as far as starting up a real operating system, not just a pink menu, no luck...

I do not understand this pink-menu problem. Could someone describe it better?

Also, when I get my server up (probably under a week from now ), I have plans to split up this thread and paste the relevent posts up there, or at least information from the entire thread. Don't worry, everyone - better documentation is just around the corner.
