One of the only reasons I want a laptop is because of music. I love the piano and I love to tinker with a midi program I have on my ANCIENT thinkpad. My Jornada is only 28 MHz slower than its processer.

So back to the topic; are there any MIDI programs allowing me to write the notes on a staff and play them on the piano? Better yet, is there a program that will let me record MIDI from the piano? Thanks a billion!

I did some research and found the perfect program, Midnote. Its not cakewalk, but it can do the basic musical functions. Its 20 dollars though . There is a demo version; I think Ill check that out. I just dont know how to connect my Jornada to a clavinova via MIDI. My clavinova only has Midi IN, Midi OUT, and Midi THRU. Also, I dont know where to get a serial adapter for the Jornada. Thanks.

YAMAHA had made a 9-pin serial to MIDI cable
But no driver for any PDA ever!
Only for computers

Since Clavinova is a digital piano
You wouldn't mind put a J720's cradle on it
I think via USB may do the job
'Cause there're tons of USB MIDI interface out there
The problem still~~
Where is the driver for your handheld?

if he's a high school student, has no scholarship, doesn't get money from his parents, doesn't get it from elsewhere, no job (who'd be interested in a high school student, seriously) then yup 20$ will make him cry.

i know, i was like that.

could be a gift for his birthday.
my parents never gave me anything except on birthdays or if it was something essential (clothes).

Midi recording on the jornada is a topic that also interests me. However, there are some schematics available:
(i.e: http://www.maxmidi.com/diy/serial/8051/) for building such a cable. I don't have an eeprom programmer right now nor the time to build the interface.
Anyway, a midi recording app for the jornada is in my to-do list. Whenever I have time (end of this year maybe) I'll start prototyping both software and hardware.

hehe thanks

ShadowMaster: that would be great! I dont know enough about that but I'm sure that would sell. I do know how to read simple schematics and understand microfarad stuff, but i doubt i could be any help.
