Hello there. I have a few questions regarding the Sharp Tripad PV-6000.

1. Does anyone have any experience with this device?

2. Can the 16MB be upgraded to 32? If so, what type of chip does it take?

3. Where can I find Sharp drivers/updates? I can't find any information on their site.

4. Am I correct in that it only has 1 PCMCIA and no CF slot?

Thank you in advance.

The CF slot is inside the battery compartment. (I know, weird.)

The Tripad is essentially the same device as the Vadem Clio C-1000. Check this thread:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1911&sta...

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I see that the link for Clio software is no longer working. So here are some programs:

There were many others included in the package, but they were too big to attach to my post. However, most of them are part of the Plus! and Power Toys packages, which can still be found on Microsoft's Windows CE pages, as well as on other freeware sites.

One more question...

Can the memory on the Tripad be upgraded, and if so, what kind of RAM chip does it take? Thanks!

I'll leave the RAM upgrade question to other Clio/Tripad users, but I will point out that the Clio C-1050 comes with the extra RAM (32 MB total), and also has a processor that's twice as fast (168 MHz, as opposed to 80 MHz for the Clio C-1000/Sharp Tripad PV-6000).

i have a clio 1000. it is quite fast compared 2 to its cpu frequency in theory, about 84mhz. but only fast when considering its original hw specs.

i have a few hpc pros. it is probably one of the slowest ones. of coz, other hpc pros that i own and owned is newer model with faster CPU. so u know....

the fastest hpc pro (in benchmarking and actual use) is Sharp HC-aj1 with a BMQ score of 26x. i said, it is not only fast in benchmarking, the actual performance also delivers.

FYI, NEC MP880 with 168mhz cpu and 32M ram achieved a score of 17x in BMQ and CLio 1000 about 15x.

http://www.pinaxgroup.com/ still has the sp1 for clio 1000. it may be of use to ya if sharp can also use this update.

the upgrade for 32m could be pricey, still u can still grab one. so grab a c1050 if u can

I find the Clio C-1050 to be pretty fast in my experience.

yup. c1050 has almost the same hw spec as nec mp880: nec 168mhz and 32m ram. then it depends on the optimization NEC or Clio does.

would you mind running bmq on c1050 and share the test results? i know bmq score might not be everything. but it at least provides some reference.

MP880 is about 165, clio 1000 is about 15x or 13x. Sharp HC-aj1 is about 26x.

I gotta restore my C-1050 first. (It's been sitting for awhile as I'm shopping for a parts unit so I can repair the keyboard.) Where can I download BMQ?

I have a bunch of 32mb memory cards for c-1050, does anyone want to try it on a Tripad or c-1000?

they are from c-1050 units, I don't know if it will work on a tripad or c-1000. I'll send you one and if it works you can send me $10

Software HP with many benchmark data:

http://homepage2.nifty.com/qta/bmq/index.htm

iPAQ h2210 (PXA255 589MHz ClockUp) 1199 1792 163 1699 392 1950
iPAQ h2210 (PXA255 530MHz ClockUp) 1036 1523 158 1500 317 1684
iPAQ h5550 (PXA255 530MHz ClockUp) 975 1564 140 1177 200 1795
SigmarionIII (PXA255 530MHz ClockUp) 928 1609 156 880 188 1810

the above 4 data are the fastest pdas ever tested with BMQ.
