| supervaags, check these adapters ($3 each ), a bit expensive shipping ($7.74 to GA ), but they are small and look great:

| I use DB9 male to male gender changer and tried 2 serial mice, none of them was recognized by the driver =( but both mice are not from microsoft. for now I keep looking for the microsoft one. it's cheap on web and ebay, but + shipping cost become a different story. |

| Well, I'm gonna have to hunt for a Microsoft serial mouse as well. I found a serial mouse at a local computer show for $5, but MouSer doesn't recognize it. Off I go to eBay. (BTW, ShadowMaster, am I reading correctly that I need to specify the same COM port as the serial cable connects to on my PC [COM4: in this case]? )
(EDIT: Okay, just picked up a Microsoft serial mouse for $2 + shipping on eBay. Can't wait to get it to test. )
Cool utility, in any event. Man, I don't know what we'd do without you, SM. Edited by CE Geek 2006-11-06 4:18 AM

MouSer won't detect my Microsoft mouse either. What am I missing? My gender changer looks identical to the picture posted above - are there different versions of the male-to-female serial adapter? |

| maybe the people who have an working mouse can tell us witch type mouse they are using?
so we can search for an pecific mouse, and we not have to try 100 mouses |

| Working! Correct connection port was COM1: after all. Cable connection order from the H/PC: serial sync cable -> null modem adapter -> gender changer -> mouse.
Will have to play with it for a while to get used to it, though. It seems a little jumpy, but I need to try different surfaces, and maybe take out and clean the ball, before coming to conclusions. |

| Hi folks
I download Mouser and follow the adapter instructions. I took a db9 male connector from a old 386 PC, cut the db9 female connector of the serial sync cable (i have the usb ) and use a electric solder to put all together and "voilá"...made a "serial port" to my Jornada 720.
Get a old mouse and it worked perfectly in the first try.
jornada>hp cable with db9 adapter male "buit-in">serial mouse
Thanks ShadowMaster! Mouser rocks! I am anxious for your joystick project

| "serial connectors m-f.JPG" appears not available today.
Any chance of re-posting or saying where it is hosted?

| Well, the fact that the thread hasn't been touched for three years may have something to do with it.
Still, you can try contacting ShadowMaster on his site:
http://www.damnsoft.org/
Click on the "Contact" link. Maybe he can provide you with an image of the connection sequence. |
