| experience here (i have two smartbooks, one with dead battery ) it will still power on but will run only from AC.. well i wouldn't call that a door stop.. i mean you can still rebuild the battery.
btw, what is actual battery runtime for you? Edited by cmonex 2006-09-07 1:40 PM

I wouldnt have a clue how to rebuild a battery Runtime is approximatly 1 1/2 hours - 2 1/4 hours at the moment (with GPRS off and backlight at lowest setting ). The trouble is that i bought it for use at school/university as a note-taking device (for rooms without power outlets or that are unreachable ), and for occasional wireless internet. Without a battery it cant do either. |

| Hey try it. Look at my pics and C'Amie pics to see how the batteries look like. I will try that this week and post pics.
It look easy to change the batteries.

| oops, 2 hours with minimal settings? mine runs 3 hours with wlan definitely get ready for a battery change.. it's really just two 18650 cells.. and some soldering? Edited by cmonex 2006-09-07 8:05 PM

| Ok I finally took the whole thing apart, batteries that is. only small dabs of soldering on the tabs. I took my knife and seperated them.
A small dab holds only one side to connect the two batteries and dabs to hold the tabs on the outside ends of the batteries.

| I'm trying a full discharge. Its currently at 22% (when you want it to go flat it lasts forever).
On a positive note, i've just used the Remote Desktop utility, very impressive and potentially useful. Now, if we can get it to support VNC as well...
Btw... cmonex... in a thread awhile ago (the CE.net on 720 one) you said CE.net comes with an Excel replacement. Whats it called and where can i get it? I've already found an Access replacement.

| I took it down to 8%, at which point the device went into shut-off mode. I then left it for a while so the RAM could use up what was left. Put it back on charge and it was as 2% (and the RAM had emptied ). Its now charging up, wish me luck |

| fingers crossed
ce.net doesn't come with an excel editor but most OEM's supply one. apparently book digital didn't.. get spreadce or ptab or planmaker.
it does come with the excel viewer if the OEM includes it. that can be downloaded from my site.
what's the access replacement? Edited by cmonex 2006-09-08 5:46 PM

| Its charging again (power cut), at 40% approx. The Access replacement is a PPC database program that came with my old PDA. Its called "Database". Cant find it online yet. |
