Hi folks.
I got a A-11 running CE 1.0 and a Siemens C72. How to connect to internet via IrDA?

(I have Opera Mini on the C72 wich is a much more complete browser than PIE 1.1, but Hey, A-11 has office and QWERTY. its better for emails )

Oh and IrDA is working, as the cellphone do transfer some bytes (I know this becouse when I create a "remote networking connection" with IrDA and use "manual dialing", the IrDA icon on the cellphone changes from "waiting" to "transfering data". Also, I know that becouse on the other topic "A-11 vs PPC", the PPC recognizes the name of the HPC.

What do I need?

Go into the HCL on this site and download the Nokia CE1 Infrared driver, that will give you an Infrared Modem Driver in Remote Networking to connect to the cell phone with.

Got everything up and running
(I need to enter the HAYES MODEM COMMANDS manually) but i says CONNECTED and starts showing data being received. but when I tap file>continue , the stands there for a minute, sometimes says "user authenticated" (or something similar) and the "disconnected".

what do I need to do?

I found I had that problem with my Velo1 and Mobilon 4100 (both CE 2.0). Try putting a user id and password in the dialup properties. It doesn't matter if your ISP doesn't need them (mine doesn't, either), but putting them in got me connected.

I still don't know why, since I have the same setup with my Jornada 720 and haven't ever had to use user/password.

Sounds like a problem on the ISP side. Have you called them?

Most tech support is merely someone answering the phone and reading from a database. If it's not in the database, then the person can't help, since s/he is only the conduit.

Update: I just did it through a free ISP
but it was 9600 and a conventional dial-up

I want to use GPRS as it is much more inexpensive

Well, at least you know that it's not a problem on your end. I almost lost my mind with frustration when I was unable to receive Compuserve Classic email via nPOP and a GPRS connection. I tried every configuration there was, and finally found ONE guy at Compuserve Tech Support who knew that Classic mail didn't work with a GPRS connection. Moved to Earthlink, much less hostile.

Do you have any other CE devices (2.11 and above) that you can test with the same specs, to see if it's a CE 1.0 dilemma?
