Some very useful storage management features of Microsoft Windows are abcent in Windows CE. CNetX comes to the rescue with their storage device diagnostic / repair / info tool - Flash Format 2.61 for the Handheld PC.

Is there a free utility or a way to make the card corrupted easily? There should be a way to find the file that formats the card when corrupted. Any ideas?

wow ... a free utility or a way to make the card corrupted easily??? hmmm ...

"There should be a way to find the file that formats the card when corrupted." ... exactly what does that mean??

Are you trying to say "There should be a way to format the card when corrupted." ?

You do not need a utility to corrupt a card, you just need to write a 512MB file into it and half way through, pull it out ... I think that should sorta mess things up ... If you want irrepairable damage ... try opening it up and crossing some PCB with a penknife!

Another way is to ship it to me. Then you wont have access to it anymore ... hehe

Lol. Essentially what I mean is if I want to format a card there should be an easy way to do it without dishing out money. I know if it is corrupted a dialog box pops up, there should be a way to access the file that does that...

It's a system procedure call, rather than a file.

Any developer could write a few KB application to call for format process.
However Flash Format does more than simply formatting, it has data protection, recovery and diagnostig tools in it.

I have been searching from my old hard drive and found my one and only version Flash Format 2.68. I remember I used to use this on my Jornada 680.

First off, you have to install it using ActiveSync, meaning you need to have your HPC connected/synched before you can install for this to work (under Windows XP preferrably). Enter in your credential and the license code in Windows XP. After that, you can update from version 2.68 to the latest found here in SCL to 2.85 by tapping OK to reinstall.

I hope this helps someone, after 18 years of waiting; from the latest post of year 2005.

@archival36 appreciate the effort, but again, you're uploading things to the board that are already in the SCL:
