I got Linux Puppy Live CD
(installed to my HDD as i liked it so much
)to format my CF card using Gparted
which is in the control panel once Puppy has booted
http://www.puppylinux.org/user/news_cats.php?cat_id=2
I made at Fat16 of 32Mb and ext2 on the rest of my Peak 2 Gig CF the flagged the Fat16 partition as bootable
Then i got the
720degrees-debian-sarge-base.tar.bz2 file from
http://stevenwiki.homedns.org/720/files/720degrees-debian-sarge-base.tar.bz2 and extract it to your
ext2 partition once you have mounted your partition, there is a GUI to mount all your partitions just click on the USB StICK icon then click mount to mount partitions, click ROX
to view partitions,click
720degrees-debian-sarge-base.tar.bz2 and extract to your ext2 partition,in my case it is/dev/sdb2
Then get the
initrd,
modules, and
vmlinuz files from
http://wwwcip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/~simigern/jornada-7xx/linux-2.4.32-j720/
Extract the
modules to your
ext2 partition and put
vmlinuz and
initrd on your
fat16 partition , /dev/sdb1 in my case
oh also the
params.txt from
http://stevenwiki.homedns.org/720/files/params.txt
onto your
fat16 partition and edit it to suit your files.
Then add keychain file to your ext2 partition from
http://stevenwiki.homedns.org/720/720deg_key.asc and then login as root and browse to where your key file is then do
apt-key add 720deg_key.asc
then
base-config new
,add the following ftp repositories :
deb
http://www.720degrees.org/apt/ stable main
deb
http://www.720degrees.org/apt/ testing main
also the ftp.uk.debian.org ones aswell.
Dont choose any other options just end the setup and login as a user now that you have set that up ,
then
su
and then
apt-get update
in console.
now you can
apt-get install xserver-kdrive
and then
apt-get install icewm
.
After install exit su mode, then as user do
startx
I have seen some people complain that IceWM will only start in root mode i would suggest you run in su SuperUser mode instead if that is the case
Also
echo disable >/proc/j720_hacks/pcmcia
will stop suspend/off pcmcia crash problem
More to follow after i get my new broadband and i will update with actual screenshot pics
