| Oh, it's a dreadful ISP. But my wife and I have had it since '95, and because we live overseas, AOL remains a lifeline to people we would lose should we change.
Its only feature these days is that it's now free.

As to my previous question about qmail handling folders: for a single account, you can have multiple folders under IMAP. nPOPuk has been developed under the paradigm of one account, one "folder." Does qmail keep the messages separated by folder? How should nPOPuk's interface be modified to handle these folders? (Can all messages in all folders be merged into one under nPOPuk?)
AFAIK, qmail has a folder for your each account, and within that folder an xml file that keeps track of which messages are in which "message folder" in the program, but the actual messages are not strictly one folder per "message folder".... although that's certainly a way to do it. I think it is done that way on the unix system that runs my IMAP mail. The whole point of IMAP is to keep things synced on multiple computers, so that's probably why AOL locks that stuff down. |

| Anyone got any instructions for settings npopuk for gmai? I have npopuk on my J728. I have loaded the dll's package in the same folder. I think I have the account setup properly but:
1. The program states it is connecting, but it gives an error message that the server disconnected.
Does anyone have any screen shots of how the account should be setup for gmail? |

| Here's mine:
Pop 3 Tab:
Account: name
Pop3server: pop.gmail.com
Port: 995
Username: me@gmail.com
password: ****
APOP: not ticked
SSL: ticked
Setup: SSL Type: TLS 1.0
Verify the server certificates: Not ticked
Disable "RETR" command: ticked (optional) - prevents mail from disappearing when nPop checks gmail after the first retrieval.
SMTP Tab:
Name: Send from name
Address: me@gmail.com
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Smtp-Auth: ticked
Setup: Auth type: CRAM-MD5
Use pop3 option: ticked
SSL: Ticked
If you have the SSL files in the nPOPuk folder, this should work.

| Thank you. It works now. |
|
|
|
| I spoke to soon. I got this error message when trying to send an email:
Verify of SSL failed unable to get local issuer certificate (20)
Any suggestions for help? |

| Did you untick "Verify the server certificate" under Pop3 tab? |
|
|
|
| That fixed it.
Thanks. |

| nPOPuk 2.09 is about to come out ... "release candidate 1" is available on the Yahoo! group:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/npopsupport/files
(for wce2.0, 2.11, and 3.0 as well as the Win32 and PPC platforms ).
The coolest (in my opinion ) new feature is address completion: type a few characters in the To: box and then hit the spacebar, and the program will cycling through addresses that match.
You can also "whitelist" your address book by making the filter item be "From:" and the content be "**INADDRESSBOOK".
Various other improvements are scattered through the program. |

| That does sound very cool. I rarely email FROM my HPCs, so I can't remember if nPOPuk shares Contacts' database. Even if it doesn't, this is a fine feature. I still can't believe nPOPuk works on my Sharp Mobilon 4100. I can even send AOL mail on it--I try not to, but it's nice to know it's there

I forget what version I added this in. nPOP has long supported the Contacts for PocketPCs (there was a converter done, I think, by Matthew Pattman, that was then built into the main code of "nPOPw" . I hassled with the API for HPCs and got it to work.
Though, now I'm trying to remember if there was some extra DLL you need. Ack! |

Ah, there it is. In the 2.08 release zip files, I have "pimstore.dll" which you need. I had meant to include these in the 2.09rc1 files. Oops. (Not that anyone has reported using Contacts on HPC and how glad they are that I enabled them ... )
(I'm actually a little curious about the mips support, because the "poom-sdk.zip" you can download from HPC:Factor contains "pimstore_r3000.dll" and "pimstore_r4100.dll" and I don't know which one to bundle with the wce211 and wce30 mips binaries of nPOPuk. ) Edited by gjcoram 2007-11-11 4:01 PM

I think there are generally more mips r4xxx devices for ce211 and hpc2k than mips r3xxx. |
