| it was not exactly the same feature on stock cenet rom, because it always asked you on every power on (not just when resetting). and the jornada only asked about the pcmcia slot
but anyway
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\PCMCIA]
"NoBatteryCheck"=dword:00000001
change the 1 to 0 to get original behaviour back, or delete the key

| Hello all.
I have scanned through every page (all 75!!!) in this thread. Perhaps I missed the answer to my question.
Can I flash the custom rom onto a Mobilepro 900 (not the 900c).
Thank you very much. |

| yes but! you have to pay attention. please go to http://hpcmonex.net/nec900/rom3.html click on first download link and do as instructed |

| OK. I just recieved my nec 900 in the mail, it has bootloader 3.2
and I have just one question. I downloaded Rom 2.0,
and just wanted to make sure that the UPDBL.NBO is the same as SABOOT.NBO
The files that I unzipped onto my 4.0G CF card are as follows.
howtoflashv2_0
UPDATE
UPDBL.NBO
XIP.BIN
I realize that I probably don't need howtoflashv2_0 on the card, but better safe than sorry, right??
Is this correct? Edited by Maetrix66 2008-03-03 9:20 PM

| I think I may have gotten something wrong. I used the instructions on your site, assuming that UPDBL.NBO=SABOOT.NBO, and when I double clicked on UPDATE.EXE, it returned an error immediately saying it could not update.
I'm sure I'm missing something. |

| my god, do not update your device with that!!!
why don't people read?
no one *ever* said updbl is same as saboot. they are NOT the same.
read my last post above your posts please!
i'm glad i did not patch out the os version check from the update.exe :relieved sigh: your device would now otherwise be a nice brick (requiring serial cable and maybe even a ne20000 card and platform builder to unbrick).
but why don't you even read the last post above yours? or wait for a confirmation on the question you posted??!

| or why don't you read the howtoflash txt or the download details on my site?! it clearly tells you you first need bootloader 4.10 already installed... sigh....
p.s.: you will never manage to update with that cf card anyway. just noticed now that you have a 4GB card.
you need a 1GB or less (not sure if 2GB works, not tested yet ) Edited by cmonex 2008-03-04 11:16 AM

Hi CMONEX
Thank You for that!!! |

| I Read this on your site, this is what gave me the impression that this was the appropriate path.
Quoted from-http://hpcmonex.net/nec900/roms2.html
"What you need to know before flashing.
general information
first thing, there are three main methods to flash a nec 900/900c and two advanced ones.
1. update by serial cable. can be used by hpc2000 and cenet bootloaders too, but one word of warning: has been tested only with bootloader version 3.0 and 4.10. (basically, the oldest and the latest ones, lol.)
2. update by updater bootloader. CAN BE USED ON ANY 900/900C, THE ONLY LIMITATION IS THAT YOUR OS HAS TO BE BOOTABLE!
-CAPS only because I have no bold option, not to yell.
I also didn't see a note to not use a CF card larger than 1G.
Thank you for your response, I realize it must get frustrating to have to keep putting out
noob fires, but I appreciate it.
I will get a smaller CF card and DL at the link indicated.
Thanks again.
PS. I thought that the post above was answering a different question.
and- "but why don't you even read the last post above yours? or wait for a confirmation on the question you posted??!"
answer-I'm an American. Doesn't make it right, but 'nuff said. |

Try inserting the letter b in brackets before the part you want in bold, and then /b in brackets after it.

| well the problem is.. it is clear you did not read even the included readme howtoflashv2 txt or even the download page for the rom v2.0. because both state you have to have 4.10 already reported in control panel.
it's not my fault if instead you go and read something completely different and try to draw conclusions nowhere stated. also the requirement of fat16 implies 4GB cards cannot be used. this is again in the readme which you did not read.
finally, that previous post of mine (just above your post ) answers a guy who asked if this rom can be flashed on a 900. i.e. same device as yours.
all in all, don't blame me for you trying to go the easiest route i.e. not paying attention to what you read or not read at all.
but don't worry, you got lucky and avoided bricking still.
btw what is your firmware version other than bootloader 3.2 (which implies 900, not 900c )? |

| I do have one question that I know has probably been answered in some a bunch of locations that I have overlooked.
I know that CmoneX Rom 2.0 has Orinoco Silver Drivers, but does it support the Gold card as well? I don't care about the 128 bit encryption if that is the tradeoff.
I promise to wait for a response before I try anything. Edited by Maetrix66 2008-03-05 1:01 PM

I've got the nec card and its been acting funny as well. connects, but doesn't display web pages or connect to servers |
