| I was just thinking ... if there are enough of us around writing *new* softwares for HPCs ... then effectively, HPCs can continue to be useful and not have to go the way of Amigas etc ... ok ok ... spare me the flames, oh Great Amiga Fans!
Sorry, this is prob OT ... I'll open a new thread later on this. |

| PocketDVD Anouncement
PocketDVD has been nominated for the PocketPC Magazine 2005 Software awards.
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards/category_2005.asp?catid=41#DVDCop...
Thanks go to the team of HPC:FACTOR and it's users.
In addition, an update for PocketDVD has been in development for a while, and while initialy intended to be version 1.2, due to numerous changes in the interface, additional features and quality options, this version has been made into PocketDVD 2.0.
While currently still in beta, I decided to put up some screenshots on the website for your viewing pleasure.

PocketDVD 2.0 should be ready for release in a few weeks, and as usual, there is no upgrade fee for the update. |

| I'm on the beta team for PocketDVD 2.0, and I can safely say I think (without breaking any NDA ) that this is the "oh wow that's cool" release.
The competition may as well just give up now... and if you don't believe me, I challenge you go and download the trial for 1.1 and literally compare it to those of the competition.
Oh and in case you've not read the HPC:Factor review (hang your head in shame! ), as H/PC users PocketDVD has specific optimisations in palce for H/PC device - you don't find that anywhere else.
Do I like this program? You could say that.

| I tried PocketDVD when I got won the contest (among all the other entrants! ) and I must say it was easy to use and it works as advertised!
Recently I had an wmv video that I wanted to view on my HPC and I forgot that PocketDVD does not do it. I ended trying to open up the file! ... guess my impression of PocketDVD was so good that my memory of it was that it encodes video in any format or medium!
On that note, would it be possible for PDVD to do just that, ie encode from wmv (or other format ) to play on HPCs, without making it into another 10-in-1 app! |

| Dear Snappy,
if you install the codec pack from the files section on the website, you can convert pretty much any video file format you can throw at it. However, for some weird reason, quicktime files sometimes do not get audio converted. This tends to happen with files that are using the latest quicktime version.
