And oh yes, is anyone else having problems accessing the jLime website? Couldn't access it for the last 2 days or so?

There is an issue with the server, supposedly going to be fixed later today.

Thanks to Qkall for providing the hosting ( my web hosts are basically full ).

The 05-01-08 userland i'm leaving up as i feel thats very stable for the most part. The development userland has some quirks. Mainly from having to upgrade boatloads of libraries and such in order to get compilers to actually work. One oddity i encountered was just an annoyance. Starting gpdf/gnumeric ( gpdf is now fixed and displays pdfs fine ) a popup message opens saying that d-bus isnt running (although d-bus IS running). Just close it and continue.

I'm not completely happy with the development userland, but its good enough for now. At least you are able to compile applications right on the jornada now. Saves searching for .ipk's to install and hoping that they work. It might also be good to build apps for the smaller non development userland. The choice is yours.

PLEASE read the readme linked at the bottom of download page as there are some big changes between these userlands.

Anyway, have fun.

Same link as always: http://freeshells.ch/~wicked74/j720/icewm720/

Cheers.

Got bored, updated my GPE userland i abandoned awhile back. Not going to go into much detail on it. Just read the README for changes. It can be found here: http://hostwork.com/users/matt/j720/

Oddly after using it for awhile i actually like it better than my icewm userland (kinda).. heh. It's also smaller and will fit a 256 meg cf if need be.

Cheers.

I just tried your GPE userland. It hangs at:
Starting GPE display manager: gpe-dm
No error message, just doesn't go on.

Try reinstalling. Make sure you are root user when doing so (very important). Also make sure you changed params.txt to mem=32m if you have a 710/720. Not sure what else to tell ya. Works fine for me and others.

Cheers.

great distro

Im completly new to unix and it was very handy to have a working prebuilt system to tryexperimenting with so cheers

I have however run into some trouble with the wifi:

I use a cisco aironet 350 card and it is great with the wlan at uni which requires a log in once connected like many wifi hotspots however with my home config which is a passworded wifi i cant connect.

ive been using the wifi radar app and have entered the password in connection options but it keeps telling me it cant obtain an ip,

any ideas

cheers and happy hacking

i remember from before i sometimes had to do the commands separately.. like connect then do the password

iwconfig eth0 essid STUFF
iwfconfig eth0 enc/key ROAR

... and its important to ask what type of password it is... wep/wap/wap2... i know for wap i wasn't able to figure it out myself... hopefully some more advanced nix heads chime in...
