| hey everyone, newbie here. I created partitions using Acronis in windows, 2 "primary" partitions (but should either be "active" or "extended"?) My goal is to have 1 FAT16 partition to boot the installation but also to use to transfer files from windows since I don't normally use linux (would, but monitor not supported). After partitioning, neither drive shows up in windows. When using a linux boot cd, both show up. However, I get an error when trying to copy the packages "cannot write.. no permissions". if i try to do partitioning in linux off of CD boot, then the program simply freezes... | |

| Hi, can you explain which packet of Acronis you use. I assume you use a USB CF drive? | |

| You do not need X support on the Linux boot cd. Just get Puppy or something, print out the instructions, and run them in the console. | |
