I've been trying to connect my MP780 to my PC (XP). I got activesync 3.7.1 and an infared port for my PC. But it won't "detect the device." Can anyone help?

Genesis,
Have you told the CE device that it is supposed to be using the IrDA port to sync
start > settings > control panel > communications > PC Connection.

You need to initiate PC Link from the start menu to get the CE device to search for the host.

p.s. the MobilePro 780 is a HPC Pro device, as such I will be moving this thread into the correct support thread

I have a 790, but since the hardware
is the same,I'd assume you have the same
problems I did. First off, I'd assume that you
set the 3.7.1 to sync via IRDA inthe "Communication Settings". Next go to the IRDA
hardware setup in Control Panel ("Wireless" in XP) and go to Properties and set communication spees to 115k.
Even though you're laptop and MP both "do" 4 Mbs, I've only gotten 4 Mbs connection on my Dell Latitude. With an IBM or even NEC
LX and LXi (ironically) it will only connect at 115k.
You HAVE to set both the PC and the MP780 for 115k,
they do NOT downsync to the lower speed, regardless of what the
manuals say. Then you have to initiate the the start of the sync from the 780
from start-progrms-communication-activesync.
