You want version 0.63:

http://www.pdagold.com/software/download.asp?s=870&d=/files/softwar...

It requires GAPI for HPCs to work.

PocketDOS is very good, but it's not freeware.

what will pocket dos let you do with the J720 that you cannot do with the native OS?

pBosbox will not run on my Jornada
the windows shortly appears on the screen and than closes
i editet the [autoexec] section of the dosbox.conf to
@echo off
mount c "/Speicherkarte2/DOS/pDOSBox-p1"
@echon on

cause this is the correct path to the files but it will not work
what I am doing wrong?
GAPI is installed.

You can run DOS applications

.....for example? Could I run WordPerfect 5.1 on my little hpc? lotus 1-2-3 v. 2? I love those programs...OK! OK! I'll come out of the closet now...I love DOS...i hate windows...i hate windows! I HATE WINDOWS!!!! there..i said it..i feel better ahhhhh sigh...but back to the topic. There is a program called Arachne that is a pretty good DOS browser...might be a little tough with the windsock, etc making the connection.

Is the cpu for the j720 equivalent to a 286? 386? 486? It doesn't do much good if I can run a nifty DOS program on my H/PC only to discover...that I can't really RUN it...can't really even WALK it..but have to watch it crawl along on the ground at a snails pace.

Will the DOS emulator work on a NEC 880?

On the pocketdos website there is a link to user forums where you will find lists and lists of dos programs that work.

yes ther is a list of running programs but i think most of this will not run on any HPC cause its too slow
I have an 2,6GHz Processor in my PC and on this some bigger programs are running slow for examlpe one of the best DOS games calle Master of Magic ( www.mater-of-magic.freehostia.com )

so has anybody an idea why pdosbox will not run on my jornada?

the j720's cpu is better than a 486, i think, but emulation is an extra task especialyl as the jornada cpu isnt even x86 based, so pocketdos emulates a 286, can be a 3/486 with some plugins but then it is slower i think.
dont know about dosbox.

I believe there's another edit you have to do in the config file. (I don't recall it myself.) There's a link in this thread that may help:

I'm one of those people that used DOS in the good 'ol days - the days of Wordperfect 5.1, Norton Commander, Dbase III, Lotus 1-2-3, Stacker (doubling your HD - WOW I have 40MB instead of 20MB ), DR-DOS, Norton Disc Doctor etc. etc.

After I noticed that there was a DOS emulator for Pocket PC's and HandHelds - I bought a copy and searched my attic for those old applications.... but I didn't find them (my wife threw all my Floppy-discs away )

Did a quick google search - and voila : Vetusware - A huge site where you can download abandonware.

Now I run my old stuff on my J720 - and it works great!

Hi,
I know it's a bump!
Anybody got Pocketdos 0.63, as the internet archive doesn't have the files.
Thanks.
