Irda sync is great! Although I believe it was ET3D that has nothing but trouble with it.

Check the support section, I think it will go with CE 1 also.

Admitedly since the inception of HPC:Factor from the days of ce320 I have not spent much time on dealing with issues for CE1 users, I hope that will change shortly though.

For now you should try Win98 with H/PC Explorer, set the communications port to the virtual com port for your IR adapter, and on the H/PC make a new Direct Cable Connection in Remote Networking which uses the Infrared Port.

That should do the trick.

You used 98 and were 100% certain on the Virtual IR port that it was using?
XP is a no no as it does not assign VCOM like 9x does.

OK
Go into the Properties for the Rmeote Networking connection that you just made.
Click configure
Go into Call options
remove the check next to "Cancel the call if not connected within"

OK everything and try again.
Whatever happens go back again and on the Port Settings tab bump the port speed up to 115200.

Ironically you are very lucky on this. I had a box of bits delivered today and this afternoon I literally built myself another CE device (You think I'm kidding, you should have seen the bits).
I left CE1 on it this time rather than moving to 2 as i have my previous CE1 devices.

Hi C:Amie Have tried what you suggested but win98 just will not see the machine well it does but for about 10seconds then stops grrrrrr. Looks like I'm fighting a loosing battle :-( The funny part is that My main machines are Psion's(have 32 of them) and rarely have had a problem and when I do I can solve them in a matter of minutes. Anyway thank you for all your help so far it has been useful. The ironic part is I just want the paint application part from the powertoys download so that I can draw topographs when I do ground surveys when caving. As you have already seen I have asked if someone could email a copy of the folders that include the parts for this app when i has been installed on their machine could you do this?? regards Andrew

I think its against the EULA for me to give you the files but anyway:

Pocket Paint may have registry entrys and also dlls

but I'll see if I can get the cab for you

Try snyncing when on a table that sounds stupid but if they are not fully aligned it will not connect properly.
