Well, when wel released the Devices and Specifications engine, it was the most requested change in regards of a missing feature; Screen Diagonal information!
The changes have been up and running for a little while, but in looking for details I have found that getting hold of accurate information can be challenging. I figure that if we are going to do it, we may as well do it properly!
I configured the changes to calculate screen diagonals based upon the mathematical constants, instead of
(often not published
) marketing data. This gives us accurate screen diagonals, but means that the visible length and width figures are required in order to calculate the hypotenuse length.
So, very simply I'm asking you to grab your H/PC
(s
), find a tape measure and measure the visible screen width and height as accurately as you can in Millimeter's
(mm
).
I have found that a dressmakers tape measure is more user friendly than a ruler
(as attached
) because of the flexibility.
Please supply the
- Name of your device
- Width of visible
(mm
)
- Height of visible
(mm
)
No need to measure the diagonal!
The data produces the "Screen Visual Area" as exampled here:

Additionally, if you have and additions or edits for the specifications for your device that you would like to see, or indeed if you find that your device is missing, please post them too!
Thanks and happy measuring.
