I think theyre those damn new animated graphics in MSN Messenger 7.
Having installed the beta, that was a format c: job to remove the memory of that one; & back to Windows Messenger.

I can't stand IM at the best of times, but MSN messenger has just become a bloated, unattractive, marketing centric, abhorrent kids toy.

What makes you think I don't like it?

The things we do for friends ...

For the records, I use Trillian since a few years back! ... C:Amie and PS can attest to that ... especially PS, since it made me invisible to him for awhile ...

Try GAIM

gaim.sourceforge.net

It's compatible with a huge load of IM protocols (AIM/ICQ, Y!, MSN, Jabber, etc), it's free (as in speech & as in beer) supports file transfers and has many other nice features. it runs on Linux and Windows

Lemme advertise comonex here: IRC!

I like the original versions of AIM, like version 2.0 for my 720 is satisfactory.

On my pc, I use gaim or naim (which is so cool to use!)

I tried it the other day ... its kinda raw ...

Trillian also supports these protocols. ... and its nicer. ... ok ok, I prefer polished products ...

Well, like it or not, Microsoft has done it again. I believe MSN Messenger is the fastest growing IM client. Even tho I do not use IM on my SmartBook much, if I had to use one suddenly, it's just too convenient to launch the built-in Windows Messenger, compared to setting up some other software that might even not work.

BTW, as I put in my sig, I didn't start this thread... But is it too coincidental that thread id 999 is about Winks?
