Windows Mobile 2003 SE Next WeekHandheld PC News Posted 19 years ago | News | Chris Tilley 0 comments
Widely believed to be named Windows Mobile 2004, it would appear that Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (SE) will be the name of the next edition of the Pocket PC Operating System to be officially unveiled next week.
While Windows Mobile remains the replacement of the consumer OS formerly known as Pocket PC, and is being targeted as such. HPC:Factor has in the past reported on the concept of once again bringing the Handheld PC and Pocket PC platforms back together. Windows Mobile 2003 SE is relevant to this idea because it provides significant functionality changes for supporting larger screens than the standard Pocket PC QVGA (320x240). Previously applications in Windows Mobile 2003 when run on larger screens were unable to properly address the screen space making porting difficult. When combined with the relaxation of the hardware requirement licensing last year, and the improved screen support the possibility that Windows Mobile could be seen on a fully fledged Clamshell or even Sub-Note is once again a step closer.
