HCL v3.0 ~ 4 years in the makingHandheld PC News Posted 19 years ago | News | Chris Tilley 0 comments
![]() HPC:Factor is very pleased to announce the immediate release to the community of the HPC:Factor Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) version 3.0.
The HCL has been with us since our days as ce320 where it served support for Windows CE 1.0 and 2.0 Handheld PC users. Now, having survived through all the changes that have come and gone both within this site and its various incarnations, as well as the changes that the community has gone through in the last 5 years - going from the centre of the Windows CE world to a spot out on the fringes - we believe that the HCL is one of our strongest assets in the fight to preserve the profile of the Handheld PC. It is because we believe in the value of the HCL to the community that we have spent the last 4 months working on making the data more intuitive to our users needs. The data is now fully dynamic, presented in an easier to follow and faster layout. We have simplified the structure of the compatibility information as well as added searching and sorting facilities. Crucially HCL v3 now also includes compatibility information for Windows CE 4.x .net devices, as well as maintaining the existing H/PC 1, H/PC 2, H/PC Pro and HPC2000 data. The HCL is maintained by us for the community. However we couldn't have got this far without your help! It is thanks to you, the users who have submitted compatibility information to us that the HCL has become so large. We hope that users in the community will continue to spend a few moments checking whether new hardware is listed and submitting entries to us.
