The Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP1 Redistributable contains the common language runtime and class libraries built for the .NET Compact Framework. In addition to supporting version 2.0, it also supports applications developed for version 1.0 and service pack releases before version 2.0.

Officially the only Handheld PC type device to be supported by the release comes in the form of Windows CE .net and Windows CE 5.0 core devices. The release, as well as providing redistributable support for the run time, includes significant updates for use on headless devices, as well as platform builder integration, allowing OEM system builders to generate CE 4.2 or higher operating systems with the framework already in ROM.
